TEHRAN, February 10 (MNA) – In the Islamic Republic of Iran, political parties play a significant role in elections.

There are different political Parties that are divided in four major groups: Principalists, Reformists, Moderates and Minorities groups.

Party, is a constituted political group that contests elections and attempts to form or take part in a government.

Different political parties in a voting system represent different groups in a society with different ideas, affiliations, approaches and beliefs, and are manifestation of democracy.

Parties in a democratic system should contribute to more unity and cohesion in the society by adhering to principles; They play a significant part in preserving identity, recognizing internal and external problems, threats and harms and resolving them.

In today’s world, parties are representation of governments and their alternatives, which train forces for fields such as the country's political affairs.

They offer their forces to be decided by the people's votes.

Different groups enter the election campaign and play a role in deciding the country's fate with their votes.

According to political analysts, parties play an undeniable role in maximum participation of people in elections, because they represent individuals try to direct people to make their choices with knowledge; All those cases could be seen in the elections and political antagonism the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Article 10 of the Constitution Commission of the Elections addresses the issue of the political parties.

The commission operates based on the Law on the Activities of Political Parties, Communities and Associations, Trade Unions and Islamic Associations or Recognized Religious Minorities, which was approved by the Parliament in 1980.

The commission is in charge of issuing licenses to applicants for the establishment of a party, group, or association; This law has 19 articles, 9 appendices and 18 paragraphs.

There are reserved parliamentary seats granted to the recognized religious minorities regardless of the constituencies and the size of their population.

According to Article 64 of the Constitution, five of the total number of parliamentarians are reserved for religious minorities: two seats for Armenians and one for each other minority: Assyrians, Jews and Zoroastrians.
