Zionist Weaponisation of Hunger Pushes 1.4 Million Palestinians to the Brink of Famine as Gaza’s Medical Sector Collapses
The genocidal entity weaponises starvation and blocks life-saving aid, yet Palestinian steadfastness endures against a relentless, Western-backed genocide.
GAZA CITY / RAMALLAH — In a grim testament to the ongoing genocide and the collective punishment inflicted by the Zionist entity, approximately 1.4 million Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip are now facing acute levels of food insecurity. As the occupation continues to choke the coastal enclave, the medical sector is simultaneously collapsing under the weight of catastrophic supply shortages, exposing the brutal reality of a war not just against fighters, but against the very foundations of Palestinian life.
According to the latest findings from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, presented in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, 67 percent of Gaza’s population remains in Phase 3 or higher of food insecurity. More than 212,000 Palestinians have been pushed into Phase 4, classified as “emergency” levels of starvation.
Palestinian Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad delivered a chilling assessment of the humanitarian catastrophe, revealing that 74,200 Palestinian children now require urgent, life-saving treatment for acute malnutrition, alongside 24,600 pregnant and breastfeeding women.
“Palestinians in Gaza are not facing a temporary food shortage, but a systematic Zionist policy targeting the foundations of life through the blockade and restrictions on the entry of food, water, and medicine,” Hamad declared, stripping away the illusion that this crisis is a mere byproduct of conflict. It is, rather, a deliberate strategy of eradication.
While UN officials like Ramesh Rajasingham have noted marginal, fragile improvements in certain metrics, he cautioned that these are entirely dependent on the sustained, yet heavily restricted, flow of humanitarian aid. Any reduction in these deliveries—often blocked or delayed by Zionist military forces—will immediately reverse these minor gains and plunge the population back into the abyss of famine.
The starvation siege is being compounded by a devastating collapse of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that shortages of essential medicines have reached 47 percent, while medical consumables are depleted by 58 percent. Most alarmingly, laboratory testing materials face an 85 percent shortage, effectively blinding medical teams trying to treat the critically ill and the thousands of wounded civilians.
The occupation’s stranglehold on medical supplies is having a lethal impact on the most vulnerable. Medicines for cancer and blood disorders are facing a 61 percent shortage, leaving patients with a death sentence. Maternal and child health medicines are down by 56 percent, kidney and dialysis treatments by 46 percent, and emergency intensive care drugs by 33 percent. Without essential lab tests like complete blood counts and blood gas analyses, doctors are being forced to perform triage in the dark.
This manufactured humanitarian disaster continues despite the supposed ceasefire that began in October 2025. Since that agreement, Zionist occupation forces have continued their relentless aggression, martyring over 1,250 Palestinians and wounding more than 4,110 others. Hospitals, once sanctuaries, remain in ruins, systematically targeted by the US-backed regime to ensure that the wounded cannot recover and the sick cannot heal.
Yet, despite the suffocating blockade, the deprivation, and the daily massacres, the steadfastness (sumud) of the Palestinian people remains unbroken. The Zionist regime and its imperialist backers continue to believe that starvation and medical collapse will break the will of the Resistance. Instead, these atrocities only further expose the moral bankruptcy of the Western powers that arm the occupier, while solidifying the unbreakable resolve of a nation fighting for its very survival and liberation.
