LJUBLJANA — The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has officially lodged a criminal complaint in Slovenia against the Zionist regime’s Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, citing his direct involvement in war crimes and the ongoing genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The complaint was submitted on Monday to the Ljubljana District Prosecutor’s Office and local police, just ahead of Sa’ar’s scheduled visit to the Slovenian capital this week to inaugurate a new embassy for the occupying entity.
According to the HRF, Sa’ar bears heavy criminal responsibility for numerous atrocities committed during the Zionist genocidal war on Gaza. The filing specifically highlights the brutal assault on the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza between October and December 2024, as well as the abduction and ongoing unlawful detention of its director, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiyeh.
Furthermore, the complaint details Sa’ar’s role in the systemic destruction and occupation of Gaza, the forced mass displacement of Palestinian civilians, and the deliberate starvation policies restricting the entry of vital food, water, fuel, and medical supplies into the Strip.
Invoking both Slovenian domestic law and major international legal instruments—including the Fourth Geneva Convention, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the UN Convention against Torture—the pro-Palestinian NGO urged Slovenian authorities to prevent Sa’ar from using diplomatic immunity to evade justice.
“No official, no matter how senior, stands above the law,” stated HRF Director General Dyab Abou Jahjah, demanding that Slovenian authorities thoroughly investigate those responsible for the heinous crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
A Legacy of Martyrdom and Pursuit of Justice
The Hind Rajab Foundation is named in memory of five-year-old Hind Rajab, who was martyred by Zionist occupation forces in January 2024. Hind gained international attention after her agonising, hours-long emergency calls to the Palestinian Red Crescent, begging for rescue while trapped inside a bullet-riddled vehicle in Gaza City. Days later, her body was recovered alongside six of her relatives. Tragically, two Red Crescent paramedics dispatched to save her were also martyred by the same occupying forces.
This latest filing in Slovenia is part of a broader global legal campaign by the HRF to expose the Zionist regime’s atrocities and pursue arrest warrants for its officials. The foundation previously submitted requests for Sa’ar’s arrest to the ICC and during his visits to Brussels and the UK.
The ongoing Zionist genocidal assault on Gaza, launched on October 7, 2023, has resulted in the martyrdom of at least 73,658 Palestinians and left 174,622 others wounded.
