Occupied Palestine — The suffering of Palestinian female detainees in Zionist occupation prisons has reached a critical new low, as violent crackdowns and deliberate medical neglect coincide with a severe outbreak of scabies at Damon Prison.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, Israeli prison repression units—infamously known as “Metsada” and “Yamas”—launched brutal raids on September 6, 2026, targeting sections 2, 10, and 11 of the facility. The assault was characterised by extreme cruelty, with occupation forces forcibly dragging the women from their cells and subjecting them to degrading and inhumane treatment.
Reports detail that the female prisoners were forced to lie face-down on the scorching ground under the sun. In one harrowing instance of targeted abuse, occupation guards mercilessly beat a Palestinian woman on her back, fully aware that she was already suffering from severe, pre-existing fractures.
Compounding the physical violence is a catastrophic deterioration of health conditions within the prison walls. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office reported that a scabies outbreak is rapidly spreading among the female detainees. The Zionist authorities have intentionally deprived the prisoners of necessary medical treatments, leaving the women in agonising pain and forcing some to scratch their skin until it bleeds.
Furthermore, the occupation continues its systematic policy of psychological torture and isolation. Prominent Palestinian journalist and detainee Lama Khater has been moved to solitary confinement in section 13, subjected to punitive isolation designed to break the steadfastness (sumud) of the prisoners.
In light of these escalating human rights violations and the deliberate weaponisation of medical neglect, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office has issued an urgent appeal. They are calling on international human rights organisations, legal institutions, and the global community to intervene immediately. The demand is clear: halt the ongoing repression, ensure the immediate provision of life-saving medical care to the infected women, and hold the Zionist jailers accountable for their crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
The plight of the women in Damon Prison remains a stark testament to the occupation’s relentless campaign of oppression, even as the resilience of Palestine’s daughters continues to defy the jailers’ cruelty.
