Zionist Media: Focus on Israel’s Suffocating Reality, Not Iran
Israeli journalist condemns media hypocrisy and war rhetoric used to divert attention from domestic repression
Occupied Palestine | PUREWILAYAH.COM — Haaretz journalist Yasmin Levy has sharply criticized Israeli media for their sensational and obsessive coverage of unrest in Iran, calling it a clear example of hypocrisy and double standards.
War Rhetoric Despite Unrepaired Damage
Levy notes that Israel has yet to repair Soroka Hospital and the Weizmann Institute, both damaged during Iran’s missile operation.
Despite this, Israeli news channels and their war-driven commentators are already expressing eagerness for renewed confrontation—conflicts she argues are aimed at securing political gains for Benjamin Netanyahu rather than addressing real domestic issues.
Obsession with Iran, Silence on Israel’s Crisis
Levy stresses that Israeli media outlets have spent days eagerly covering unrest in Iran and anticipating its collapse, while ignoring protests against Netanyahu’s government at home.
She writes that if the same enthusiasm were directed toward Israel’s internal protests, the country might have escaped the suffocating atmosphere it now faces.
Judicial Coup Hidden Behind War Noise
Levy highlights the stark contradiction in Israeli media discourse, noting that while outlets attack Iran’s religious system, they routinely provide platforms to extremist Zionist rabbis.
She writes:
“Any viewer following the news might assume that democracy in Israel is alive and thriving, with citizens freely protesting against their elected officials. But in reality, while Yariv Levin (the justice minister) is carrying out a judicial coup for Netanyahu, television hosts shout excitedly about war and deliberately divert attention toward Iran.” (PW)
