SOUTHERN LEBANON — In a deliberate and criminal campaign of urban and cultural annihilation, the usurping Zionist entity has turned the southern Lebanese city of Bint Jbeil—a historic stronghold of the Islamic Resistance—into an uninhabitable wasteland.
According to a damning new report released by the Bint Jbeil municipality titled “Bint Jbeil; The Memory of a Crime,” more than 80 percent of the martyr city has been reduced to rubble by the occupation’s war machine.
The Scale of Urban Annihilation
The Zionist enemy has razed over 2,000 buildings to the ground, wiping out at least 5,000 residential units. Today, eight out of every ten homes in Bint Jbeil have been obliterated by Zionist airstrikes and white phosphorus. The municipality confirms that the surviving 20 percent of the urban fabric has sustained heavy damage, effectively rendering the entire city unlivable for its returning residents.
The demographic landscape has also been violently altered in an attempt to displace the local population. Over 1,500 families have been displaced and stripped of their properties. Before this latest aggression, 81 percent of families in Bint Jbeil owned their own homes; today, that figure has plummeted to a mere 3 percent.
Erasing History and Targeting Lifelines
The aggression went far beyond military targets, systematically targeting the very lifelines of the city. Water and electricity networks, including major power generators and water stations that supply Bint Jbeil and eight surrounding towns, were deliberately destroyed by the occupying forces.
Furthermore, the enemy attempted to erase the historical and cultural memory of the resistance stronghold. The Grand Mosque of Bint Jbeil, a 400-year-old symbol of faith and heritage, was reduced to ruins. Eleven of the city’s 14 educational centres, including a branch of the Lebanese University, were flattened. Hospitals, pharmacies, and relief centres were not spared, and the local economy was decimated with over 500 commercial units obliterated in the city’s markets.
A War on the Land
The criminal entity extended its aggression to the earth itself. The occupation forces uprooted ancient trees, levelled orchards, and poisoned the soil, causing an estimated 70 percent destruction of Bint Jbeil’s vital agricultural sector.
The Three Pillars of the Crime
The municipality’s report categorises the Zionist regime’s atrocities into three deliberate pillars: destroying homes, erasing collective memory, and burning the land.
Yet, despite the sheer scale of this calculated urbanisation, the Zionists have failed to break the will of the Lebanese people. Bint Jbeil, which famously stood as the graveyard of Zionist armour in 2006, remains a towering symbol of Sumud (steadfastness) today. The stones of the city may be crushed, but the covenant with the martyrs and the unbreakable resolve of the Axis of Resistance endure. The enemy can destroy buildings, but it can never dismantle the fortress of faith and Wilayah that Bint Jbeil represents.
