Occupied West Bank - In a blatant act of state terrorism and an attempt to obscure the truth, the terrorist Zionist occupation army abducted Press TV correspondent Naqqa Hamed at a military checkpoint near the town of Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank.
Hamed was travelling with a camera crew when occupation troops intercepted their vehicle. The crew was subjected to invasive searches before the Zionist soldiers kidnapped Hamed, releasing her colleagues.
This kidnapping follows a coordinated, month-long psychological and media smear campaign orchestrated by Zionist accounts targeting the journalist. These hostile platforms have been waging a relentless war against Hamed, specifically attacking her coverage from “Area B” of the West Bank. They questioned how she could operate without being arrested while reporting for Iran’s Press TV, deliberately attempting to incite the occupation regime’s security apparatus to silence her voice. This coordinated effort is a clear component of the Zionist entity’s broader strategy to terrorise journalists, restrict media operations, and hide its continuous crimes from the global community.
The abduction of Hamed marks yet another chapter in the occupation’s ongoing war against the media. Just last month, on August 6, Zionist forces deliberately attacked Hamed and other journalists who were covering a brutal military raid on the Qalandiya refugee camp. Despite wearing clearly identifiable press vests and helmets, the reporters were targeted with stun grenades and tear gas. Previously, in December of last year, Hamed sustained injuries when the occupation army fired rubber bullets directly at her while she was delivering a live broadcast from Qalandiya.
This latest detention occurs against a backdrop of intensified Zionist military terror across the occupied West Bank. The occupation regime continues its daily, violent raids on Palestinian cities, towns, and refugee camps, carrying out mass arbitrary arrests, home demolitions, and extrajudicial killings. This criminality has drastically escalated since the Zionist entity launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
Despite the occupation’s desperate attempts to blind the world to its atrocities and target the messengers of truth, the voices of resistance media continue to pierce through the siege, exposing the true face of the Zionist terrorist regime to the world.
