OCCUPIED PALESTINE — A Zionist military court has extended the arbitrary detention of Palestinian obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Dima Amin for an additional five days over her social media posts. The extension comes despite Dr Amin suffering a severe heart attack and undergoing urgent cardiac catheterisation while in the custody of occupation forces.
Zionist forces abducted the 55-year-old doctor from her home in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah early last Tuesday. In a blatant disregard for international law, occupation authorities severed communication with her family and legal representatives, keeping her whereabouts hidden for 36 hours.
According to her testimony, Dr. Amin faced severe mistreatment during her detention. Her hands were bound tightly, and the occupation authorities cruelly refused to loosen the restraints despite her deteriorating health. The physical strain and abuse directly triggered a severe heart attack.
She was subsequently transferred to Hadassah Hospital in occupied al-Quds, where she underwent the life-saving procedure. However, in a shocking display of medical negligence, the occupation authorities immediately returned her to the notorious Binyamin interrogation centre the moment she was discharged, completely denying her the necessary medical follow-up and recovery care.
The international medical humanitarian organisation, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), has voiced grave concern over the abduction of Dr. Amin. MSF highlighted that she is the latest victim of a systematic and deliberate Zionist campaign aimed at terrorising and detaining Palestinian medical personnel who serve their communities under occupation.
