Youth at the Edge of Tomorrow: Truth Promoters' Arbaeen Majlis
Addressing modern challenges, this Arbaeen lecture calls for youth to revive faith, build strong bonds, and embrace spiritual resilience.
GLOBAL, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The night three of the Arbaeen 2025/1447 Lecture Series hosted by Truth Promoters featured another profound session led by Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally, streamed live on YouTube as part of the international Muharram-Arbaeen commemoration.
The evening unfolded with a solemn recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by poetic couplets, and culminated in a powerful lecture titled “Tabyeen – Youth at the Edge of Tomorrow.” The program concluded with a maqtal narrative, noha recitations, and a stirring reflection from Ziyarat Arbaeen.
Clarification as a Spiritual Duty and Youth as the Battleground
Sheikh Shabbir’s address underscored the centrality of Tabyeen—clarification and truth-telling—in the face of ideological confusion, especially among Muslim youth.
He drew inspiration from the teachings of Imam Khamenei and the legacy of the Ahl al-Bayt, urging for a revival of spiritual sincerity and moral courage in confronting today’s cultural and intellectual assaults.
The lecture identified not ignorance, but inaction upon known truths, as the crisis plaguing the Muslim ummah. Warning against religious hypocrisy and the dangers of charisma void of sincerity, Sheikh Shabbir emphasized that complicity in silence—by both scholars and laypeople—has allowed injustice to persist. He called for a revival of truth and moral accountability.
Turning to the youth, he declared that they are not just “the future” but “the battleground of the present.” Citing the Companions of the Cave, Prophet Ibrahim, Sayyeda Maryam, and others, he showed how divine missions have historically been entrusted to young believers marked by faith and clarity. He warned of a soft war waged against Muslim youth—eroding identity, weakening family bonds, and numbing spiritual longing.
In response, Sheikh Shabbir presented a strategic framework for resistance:
Cultivating spiritual desire through beauty, love, and deep religious experiences
Strengthening identity through connection to the Qur’an and Ahl al-Bayt
Building supportive families and communities
Offering mentorship instead of judgment
Encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and active participation in the cause of truth
He closed with a powerful reminder that the duty of Tabyeen is a universal responsibility, not limited to scholars, and hinted that future sessions would delve into the role of women in this spiritual and ideological resistance.

Maqtal Segment: The Caravan of Captivity and the Legacy of Sayyeda Zainab
The night’s maqtal segment transitioned to the tragic aftermath of Karbala, chronicling the harrowing journey of the Prophet’s household from Kufa to Damascus. Sayyeda Zainab and Imam Zainul Abideen led the surviving members of the family through immense hardship.
The account invoked the martyrdom of young Sayyeda Khawla, the public humiliation of the captives, and the conversion of a Christian priest who saw divine light in the caravan.
Despite their suffering, Sayyeda Zainab transformed grief into defiance, ensuring that the truth of Karbala would be preserved—an act of Tabyeen in its purest form. The emotional climax connected this sacred suffering to Imam al-Mahdi (aj), the awaited savior, who weeps over the ongoing oppression of truth.

Noha Recitation
The Truth Promoters Arbaeen Majlis programme’s third night featured the deeply moving lamentation “Zainul Abedeen”, a nohe dedicated to Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn (peace be upon him), the lone surviving son of Karbala who carried the message of Hussain through captivity, illness, and years of oppression. With each refrain — “Zainul Abedeen, sweet Zainul Abedeen, forever tears will flow, for you suffered so” — the piece evoked the weight of chains, the humiliation of hostile courts, and the unyielding resolve that defined the fourth Imam’s life.
The verses traced his journey from the plains of Karbala to the dungeons and palaces of the tyrants, depicting his physical suffering alongside his spiritual endurance. It honoured his whispered prayers and steadfast tabyeen as the means by which the pure teachings of Islam were preserved in the face of relentless persecution. The nohe closed with a call to action — to break the chains of sin, embrace truth, and take up the banner of justice that the Imam carried for the Ummah. More than an elegy, “Zainul Abedeen” was a reminder that faith, patience, and principled defiance can outlast the cruelty of any age.

Ziyarat Arbaeen Reflection: The Oppressed Martyr
The Ziyarat Arbaeen reading featured the stanza titled "The Oppressed Martyr" from The Communion of Arbaeen, drawing a poetic comparison between Imam Hussain and Jesus, yet emphasizing that while Christ’s crucifixion was veiled in mystery, Hussain’s martyrdom was witnessed—and abandoned—by his own people.
The text challenges mourners to go beyond lamentation and become true upholders of Hussain’s banner. It ends with a firm oath: never to betray the martyr again.
