Yemeni Hypersonic Missile Strikes Ben Gurion Airport, Disrupts Israeli Airspace
Yemeni Armed Forces escalate operations with missile and drone strikes across occupied Palestine, warn of total air blockade and urge foreign investors to evacuate.
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Rocket Force of the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) launched a high-precision hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Lydd (Lod) Airport, also known as Ben Gurion Airport, in Yafa (Tel Aviv), according to a statement by military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree on Sunday.
Saree confirmed that the missile strike achieved its objective, forcing millions of Israeli settlers into shelters and halting all operations at the airport, resulting in a full airspace lockdown. The strike marks one of the most significant escalations in Yemen's campaign of military pressure on the Israeli regime.
Three Drone Strikes on Strategic Israeli Locations
In addition to the missile strike, Saree announced that the YAF's UAV Unit executed three simultaneous drone operations, targeting vital Israeli sites in the occupied cities of Yafa (Tel Aviv), Isdud (Ashdod), and Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat).
“These operations were carried out in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and their Resistance factions,” Saree stated, “and as a rejection of the ongoing genocide committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza.”
Toward a Full Air Ban on Ben Gurion Airport
Following the successful partial air blockade of Ben Gurion Airport, Saree emphasized that the YAF is now working to enforce a full ban on all air traffic through the site.
He urged remaining airlines that continue operations to immediately reconsider their routes to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft. “Our message is clear,” Saree added. “As long as the aggression on Gaza continues, so will our strikes.”
Israeli media outlets confirmed that airspace at Ben Gurion Airport was shut down on Sunday following the Yemeni missile strike. Incoming and outgoing flights were suspended, and air raid sirens were heard across Tel Aviv and west of occupied Jerusalem.
These disruptions come amid a series of repeated missile attacks by Yemen in recent weeks, which have forced several international airlines to suspend flights to the occupied territories.
Yemen Warns Foreign Investors to Evacuate
In a stark warning, a source from Yemen’s Ministry of Defense called on foreign companies and investors operating in "Israel" to "leave immediately" as the regional security situation continues to deteriorate.
“The environment is no longer safe,” the official told SABA News Agency, stressing that Yemen’s advanced missile arsenal, equipped with fragmenting warheads, is designed to strike a broad range of targets, even when intercepted.
Yemen’s Supreme Political Council head Mahdi al-Mashat echoed the warning, asserting that Israeli shelters and bunkers will no longer offer protection. During a visit to Sanaa International Airport, which had previously been bombed by Israel, al-Mashat declared:
“You [Israeli settlers] will not be protected. Yemeni missiles are capable of reaching their targets, and bunkers will no longer be safe.”
Earlier statements by Ansar Allah leader Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi reaffirmed that Yemeni operations will intensify. He vowed that future steps would be “more effective and impactful”, aimed at amplifying pressure on Israel until the genocide in Gaza ends and the siege is lifted.
In recent months, Yemen has emerged as a formidable player in the regional Resistance Axis, leveraging long-range ballistic capabilities and asserting control over Red Sea airspace and maritime routes. The latest operations signal a strategic shift in regional dynamics, with Yemen directly impacting Israel’s internal security and global aviation access. (PW)
