Yemeni Armed Forces Launch Drone Strikes on Israeli Strategic Sites
Houthis say five drones hit military targets across Israel in solidarity with Gaza.
Sanaa, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Yemen’s Houthi-controlled Armed Forces announced they have carried out a series of drone strikes targeting Israeli military and strategic sites, in what they describe as retaliation for the ongoing assault on Gaza.
Military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed that five drones were launched in total during three separate operations. According to the statement, two of the drones struck military facilities in Jaffa and Ashkelon, while the third targeted the strategic port city of Haifa.
Saree said the strikes were a direct response to “genocide and starvation” inflicted on Palestinians, as well as repeated incursions by Israeli forces at Al-Aqsa Mosque. He emphasised that such operations will continue as long as Israel’s military campaign against Gaza persists.
The Houthis have escalated their drone and missile attacks on Israeli targets since late 2023, framing the operations as part of a broader regional resistance front. Israel has yet to comment on the latest strikes, but previous incidents have prompted heightened air defence activity and increased military alerts.
The announcement underscores the widening regional dimensions of the Gaza conflict, with Yemen’s Houthi movement positioning itself as an active military actor in the confrontation. (PW)
