Yemen Strikes Tel Aviv, Second Missile in 24 Hours
Second missile launch from Yemen in 24 hours disrupts Israeli airspace, forces Ben Gurion Airport to close, and exposes growing regional backlash over Gaza genocide
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Israeli media reported on Tuesday evening that air raid sirens blared across vast areas of the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Greater Tel Aviv region, following the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen toward Tel Aviv.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, alarms were activated in over 139 locations, setting off widespread panic among settlers and triggering an immediate state of emergency. As a precautionary measure, Ben Gurion Airport was temporarily shut down, with airspace closed and flight operations suspended.
The Israeli occupation military later claimed that the projectile was intercepted by its air defense systems before impact. However, debris from the interception reportedly landed in the northern occupied territories, prompting additional alerts and reinforcing the sense of vulnerability.
Yemen: We Struck Lod Airport with Palestine-2 Hypersonic Missile
In a bold announcement issued the same evening, the Yemeni Armed Forces confirmed they had launched a “qualitative military operation” targeting Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied region of Yafa (Jaffa).
The missile used in the strike was identified as a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, representing an escalation in Yemen’s military capabilities.
The Yemeni statement declared the operation successful, stating that it directly struck its intended target and caused chaos, forcing millions of settlers into bomb shelters.
Airport activity was brought to a standstill, with a U.S. military cargo plane denied landing clearance for the second day in a row.
Framing the strike as a response to the “ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza,” the statement emphasized Yemen's unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian resistance and condemned the atrocities being committed in the besieged coastal enclave.
Israeli Political Fallout: “No One Takes Us Seriously Anymore”
Amid the growing domestic backlash, Israeli Democratic Party leader Yair Golan delivered a scathing critique of the government’s failure to manage the spiraling crisis.
“Millions of Israelis are running to shelters because of a rocket fired from Yemen,” Golan said. “Meanwhile, we remain stuck in the Gaza quagmire for 20 months. No one takes us seriously anymore.”
His remarks reflect a broader sense of disillusionment among segments of Israeli society, who are grappling with both internal political stagnation and the expanding scope of regional confrontation.
Sanaa Declares Israeli Routes Dangerous for Civilian Traffic
The missile launch comes amid escalating warnings from Sanaa’s leadership, which has vowed to expand military operations against Israel as long as its aggression on Gaza continues.
On Friday, Mahdi al-Mashat, President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, declared that all air and maritime routes used by Israeli forces to conduct attacks on Yemen are now classified as danger zones.
He urged civilian airlines and maritime operators to reroute for their own safety, warning that Israeli traffic through those corridors would be treated as military targets.
The move follows recent Israeli airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport, to which al-Mashat responded with a direct warning to Israeli settlers:
“The government of filthy Netanyahu will not be able to protect you… even your bunkers will no longer be safe.”
This shift marks a new chapter in Yemen’s military engagement, signaling a growing determination to confront Israeli aggression with advanced and direct retaliation. (PW)
