Yemen Strikes Ben Gurion Airport with Ballistic Missile 'Zulfiqar' in Support of Gaza
Yemeni Armed Forces target Israeli air hub and critical sites in response to genocide in Gaza and violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced on Monday that they had launched a ballistic missile targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv (occupied Yafa), in a direct response to the Israeli occupation's ongoing aggression against Gaza and desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to a statement by YAF military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the operation was executed using a Zulfiqar ballistic missile, which "successfully hit its target with precision," causing significant disruption and reportedly forcing four million Israelis into shelters, with air traffic at the airport brought to a halt.
Response to Gaza Genocide and Al-Aqsa Violations
The Yemeni Armed Forces framed the operation as a retaliatory act in solidarity with the Palestinian people, specifically citing the "genocide and starvation crimes" in Gaza and ongoing violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces continue to monitor developments in Gaza, salute the sacrifices of its steadfast people, and extend a pan-Arab and Islamic military greeting to the al-Qassam Brigades, al-Quds Brigades, and all resistance fighters,” the statement read.
Yemen reaffirmed its unwavering position: “Free and sovereign Yemen will never abandon Palestine and will remain at its side until the aggression ends and the blockade is lifted.”
Israel Confirms Missile Launch from Yemen
Earlier in the day, the Israeli occupation military confirmed the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen, targeting the occupied territories. The attack triggered sirens and air defense responses across central and southern occupied Palestine, including al-Quds and several illegal settlements in the southern West Bank.
While Israeli military sources claimed that interception attempts were underway, the launch itself marked a continuation of Yemen’s long-range strike campaign in support of Gaza.
Growing Operational Footprint: 44 Missiles Since March
Since the resumption of Israel’s full-scale military assault on Gaza on March 18, the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen has stepped up its direct military support by launching at least 44 ballistic missiles and 10 drones toward occupied Palestinian territories.
Though Israeli officials allege that many of the projectiles failed to reach their intended targets, the consistent operations have exposed key vulnerabilities in the Israeli security posture, causing repeated disruptions and panic across vast regions.
Sunday’s Operation: Hypersonic Missile and Drone Strikes
On Sunday, prior to the Monday strike, the Rocket Force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a major operation using a hypersonic ballistic missile to once again strike Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
According to Brig. Gen. Saree, the missile successfully hit its objective, prompting mass panic and a temporary shutdown of airport activities.
In parallel, the UAV Unit of the Yemeni Armed Forces launched three drones, targeting critical Israeli sites in the areas of Yafa (Tel Aviv), Isdud (Ashdod), and Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat). These operations were also described as being carried out in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and their resistance forces, and as a clear rejection of the ongoing genocide being committed by "Israel" in the Gaza Strip.
