Yemen Strike Ben Gurion Airport and Naqab, Intensify Military Pressure on Israel
BrigGen Yahya Saree reaffirms commitment to Gaza as Yemen expands operations against Israeli targets, including direct missile and drone attacks, maritime enforcement, and economic disruption
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Wednesday the execution of four new military operations targeting Israeli sites.
According to military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the most notable operation included a direct missile strike on the occupied airport of al-Lydd—known to the Israeli occupation as Ben Gurion Airport—using a Zulfiqar ballistic missile.
Saree further detailed that three additional attacks were carried out using a total of four drones, striking the port of Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat), a military site in the Naqab region, and the al-Lydd Airport again.
These coordinated operations highlight Yemen’s continued military capability and precision in targeting key Israeli positions.
He emphasized that the Yemeni Armed Forces “remain committed to their religious, moral, and humanitarian duty toward the Palestinian people,” reiterating that these operations will persist until the Israeli occupation ceases its war on Gaza and fully lifts the siege on the Palestinian population.
Yemen Issues Renewed Warnings to International Shipping
In addition to the strikes, the Yemeni military issued a fresh warning to international companies doing business with ports located in occupied Palestine. The statement cautioned that their vessels may be targeted if they continue to engage in operations that support or enable the Israeli regime.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed that Yemen continues to enforce a blockade on Israeli shipping in both the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
This blockade is not incidental, but rather an integral part of Yemen’s broader military engagement in solidarity with the people of Gaza. The operations, he affirmed, will continue unabated until aggression ends and the humanitarian blockade is lifted.
These developments came just a day after Saree announced that Yemeni forces had successfully targeted a significant Israeli military installation in the occupied Naqab region through a drone strike. He stressed that such actions are not isolated incidents but represent a sustained commitment to defending Gaza.
Eilat Port Faces Total Shutdown Amid Mounting Economic Crisis
Meanwhile, the Israeli economic outlet The Marker reported that the port of Eilat is set to cease all operations starting this coming Sunday.
The shutdown follows the Eilat Municipality’s decision to freeze the port’s bank accounts due to massive debts amounting to millions of shekels.
The port has faced near-total paralysis since November 2023, when Yemen imposed a naval blockade on ships bound for "Israel," resulting in a steep decline in revenue and commercial activity.
This blockade, aimed at halting Israeli aggression on Gaza, effectively crippled maritime routes through the Red Sea, prompting international shipping companies to divert away from Eilat.
According to The Marker, the port's revenue has dropped by 80% in 2024 alone, due to the sharp reduction in vessel traffic. The recent financial freeze by the local municipality signals what may become a complete economic collapse of the port, further highlighting the long-term effectiveness of Yemen’s maritime strategy.
