Yemen Marks Prophet’s Birthday with Festivities and Strikes on Israel
In a rare mix of devotion and defiance, millions celebrated as Yemen fired hypersonic and Zulfiqar missiles at occupied Jaffa, causing panic and grounding flights.
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The skies over Yemen on Tuesday night were ablaze with color and light, as fireworks and green illuminations blanketed cities, towns, and mountain villages in honor of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary.
The capital Sana’a and other governorates glowed with vibrant displays, as streets, buildings, and neighborhoods radiated a mixture of faith and festivity.
From rooftops to hilltops, Yemenis launched dazzling pyrotechnics into the night sky, merging sound and color into a living portrait of joy, loyalty, and deep connection to the message of Islam’s final Prophet (peace be upon him and his family).
The celebrations created a visual unity across the country, reflecting both religious devotion and national pride.
Unlike other nations, Yemen marks this occasion in a way that is as unique as it is profound.
While millions gather in public squares for processions, charitable activities, and acts of solidarity, the country’s Armed Forces simultaneously carry out military operations against the enemies of the Prophet — a symbolic and practical fusion of faith and resistance.
Military Strikes Aligned with the Occasion
In the days leading up to and on the morning of the celebration, Yemen’s Armed Forces conducted multiple high-profile military operations against Israel.
On Tuesday, four drones targeted Israeli positions in occupied Jaffa and other cities, coinciding with a maritime attack on an Israeli vessel.
These operations were explicitly framed as part of Yemen’s ongoing support for Gaza, whose people face genocide, starvation, and thirst under Israeli siege.
The following morning, a “qualitative and dual” missile strike was launched deep into the heart of the occupation. Two ballistic missiles — a hypersonic cluster-type Palestine-2 and a Zulfiqar — were fired at sensitive Israeli targets in occupied Jaffa, which Israel refers to as Tel Aviv.
The impact was immediate and disruptive: air raid sirens blared in multiple settlements, millions of settlers rushed into shelters, and flight tracking data confirmed the suspension of all operations at Lod [Ben Gurion] Airport.
The strikes were described by Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the Armed Forces spokesman, as part of an escalating campaign that will continue “with increasing intensity” in the coming period.
A Message of Faith, Resistance, and Solidarity with Gaza
In his statement, Brigadier General Saree addressed the Prophet Muhammad directly:
“We are the Yemenis, O Messenger of Allah, the people of faith and wisdom, who supported you yesterday, support you today, and will support you tomorrow. We remain on your covenant, holding firmly to your path and committed to your guidance.”
He emphasized that Yemen commemorates the Prophet’s birth “from the position of sacred jihad and highest front-line defense,” in support of the oppressed in Gaza who have endured prolonged aggression, blockade, mass killing, and starvation. He condemned those who have abandoned the Palestinian cause, affirming that “victory for Gaza is victory for religion, for the Ummah, and for humanity.”
The timing of the missile strikes on occupied Jaffa — coinciding with Yemen’s nationwide festivities — was deliberately symbolic.
It was a statement that Yemen’s connection to the Prophet is not only expressed through words, rituals, and community gatherings, but also through action on the battlefield.
Last year’s celebration had similarly been marked by a major military operation using hypersonic missiles that drove millions of Israelis into shelters, paving the way for Yemen’s mass public rallies.
This year, the pattern repeated: as fireworks filled Yemen’s skies, missiles rained down on the occupation, merging the spiritual and the strategic into one message of defiance.
The result was a spectacle unlike any other — a country celebrating its Prophet with lights, crowds, charity, and a show of military power that resonated far beyond its borders. (PW)
