Yemen Bids Farewell to Martyr al-Ghamari in Massive Historic Funeral
Hundreds of thousands join “Day of Loyalty to the Faithful” as Grand Mufti condemns collaborators with US-Israeli enemies
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Yemen held a massive funeral on Monday for the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Staff Lieutenant General Martyr Mohammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, whose martyrdom came as a result of Israeli aggression on Yemen.
The capital city of Sanaa witnessed an extraordinary display of unity and mourning as hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered for the funeral ceremony held at Al-Sabaeen Square and Al-Shaab Mosque. The event was described by organizers as a “Day of Loyalty to the Faithful.”
The funeral drew senior military officials, government representatives, tribal leaders, and ordinary citizens from across Yemen’s provinces — all paying tribute to one of the nation’s most revered commanders in the ongoing battle against US-Israeli aggression.
A Sea of Mourners in Sanaa
The streets of Sanaa overflowed with crowds carrying portraits of martyr al-Ghamari, alongside Yemeni flags and banners pledging loyalty to the Resistance.
The scenes reflected the deep popular reverence for the slain general, who symbolized steadfastness, sacrifice, and faith in Yemen’s resistance struggle.
The funeral saw mass participation from citizens across all regions — demonstrating the nation’s collective mourning and pride in its fallen leader.
Grand Mufti Condemns Collaboration with Enemies
The funeral prayer was led by Yemen’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Shamsuddin Sharafuddin, who delivered a powerful address condemning collaboration with Israeli and American enemies.
“Whoever initiates wrongdoing or shelters wrongdoers will face the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people,” declared the Grand Mufti, emphasizing the religious duty to expose and confront traitors.
He described those who cooperate with the enemies of Islam as apostates, calling on all Yemenis to report and isolate such individuals.
Sharafuddin further stated that the martyrdom of al-Ghamari and his comrades is both a divine test and a beacon of steadfastness, reaffirming Yemen’s faith-based commitment to the defense of Gaza and Palestine.
Citing the Holy Qur’an, he reminded mourners:
“We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine,”
underscoring that such sacrifices embody Yemen’s enduring spiritual resolve and moral leadership in confronting oppression.

Legacy of Martyr Mohammad al-Ghamari
Martyr al-Ghamari had served as Chief of the General Staff since 2016, overseeing strategic operations that fortified Yemen’s defense against the Saudi-led coalition and Israeli involvement.
He played a decisive role in major confrontations in Marib and operations in the Red Sea, and more recently, he spearheaded Yemen’s proactive military campaign in solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian Resistance.
The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) confirmed his martyrdom last Thursday, stating that he succumbed to wounds sustained in a previous Israeli airstrike. The YAF vowed that “the Israeli enemy will pay the price for its crimes.”
“Their Blood Will Illuminate the Path of Liberation”
Concluding his sermon, Grand Mufti Sharafuddin prayed for the martyr and his comrades, declaring:
“Their pure blood will continue to fuel the liberation struggle and inspire all resistance fighters confronting occupation and aggression.”
Monday’s funeral stood as a powerful manifestation of Yemen’s unity, resilience, and unwavering resistance, honoring a commander whose name will remain etched in the nation’s history as a symbol of faith, loyalty, and defiance. (PW)
