Witkoff Announces Four-Party Agreement on Managing Gaza’s Transitional Phase
U.S., Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey agree to activate a “Peace Council” as a mechanism for administering Gaza during the transition period
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of Donald Trump for West Asia affairs, announced that representatives of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey have agreed on the formation and activation of a Peace Council in Gaza as a mechanism to administer the enclave during the transitional period.
According to Witkoff, the four parties emphasized that activating this council is a necessary step to manage Gaza’s humanitarian and political situation amid ongoing ceasefire arrangements.
Miami Talks Review First Phase of Gaza Ceasefire
Witkoff stated that representatives from the four countries met yesterday in Miami to review the implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He claimed that the initial phase of the ceasefire has so far seen notable progress, citing the expansion of humanitarian aid deliveries, the return of bodies, and a partial withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces.
Participants in the Miami meeting, he added, stressed the importance of full adherence to the ceasefire and restraint by all sides in order to maintain stability and prevent renewed escalation.
Consultations to Continue on Second Phase of Ceasefire
Witkoff concluded by noting that consultations will continue in the coming weeks, with a focus on addressing the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza, as part of broader efforts to stabilize the situation and manage the transition period. (PW)
