GAZA CITY – Hollywood actress and prominent human rights advocate Angelina Jolie has sounded the alarm over the apocalyptic devastation wrought by the Zionist regime’s genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip, sharing damning satellite imagery that reveals the sheer scale of the erasure of Palestinian life.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Jolie urged the global public to open Google Earth and bear witness to the catastrophic ruin inflicted upon the coastal enclave by ongoing Israeli bombardment. “Whole neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble,” she wrote, detailing how homes, schools, universities, hospitals, and vital water and sanitation infrastructure have been systematically decimated.
The Statistics of Erasure
According to United Nations satellite analysis, 82 percent of Gaza’s structures have been damaged or destroyed as of mid-2026. A staggering two-thirds of the Strip’s buildings now lie in ruins, with over 371,888 housing units wiped out. Furthermore, more than half of Gaza’s hospitals have been rendered entirely non-functional, and nearly all schools have been destroyed, stripping Palestinians of their most basic means of survival and education.
The scale of the physical destruction is unprecedented. A joint assessment by the UN, World Bank, and European Union estimates the damage to Gaza’s physical infrastructure at $35.2 billion, requiring an estimated $71.4 billion for recovery and reconstruction over the next decade. The ongoing Israeli onslaught has forcibly displaced approximately 1.9 million Palestinians—often repeatedly—and left more than 60 percent of the Strip’s population completely homeless.
The Human Toll Beyond the Rubble
However, Jolie emphasised that cold data and satellite maps cannot capture the profound human tragedy and the blood spilt on the ground. The imagery cannot convey “what it means to live among it, what happened to the families who were killed, and what life is like for those who survived,” she stressed.
With the harsh winter months rapidly approaching, the actress warned of a deepening humanitarian catastrophe. Nearly 1.98 million Palestinians—94 percent of Gaza’s entire population—are in desperate need of shelter assistance. Over 80 percent of households are currently surviving in critical or catastrophic conditions, while vital humanitarian supplies, including winter mattresses and blankets, face continuous blockades, delays, or outright rejection at Zionist-controlled crossings.
“The destruction is visible. The needs are known. What matters now is whether they are met,” Jolie concluded.
A Mounting Martyrdom
The ongoing genocide, launched by the Zionist regime in October 2023, has claimed the lives of at least 74,000 Palestinian martyrs and left more than 174,000 others wounded, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry. As the world watches the erasure of Gaza, calls for an immediate end to the occupation, a lifting of the siege, and full accountability for Zionist war crimes continue to mount globally.
