Targeting 5 Key Power Plants Could Paralyze Israel’s Electricity System
Meanwhile, Within Israel’s electricity generation structure, around 10 to 12 major power plants are active, with five key facilities supplying more than half of the country’s total electricity.
According to a report by Tasnim News Agency, these five power plants are:
Orot Rabin Power Plant (Haifa area) – nearly 3,000 MW
Rutenberg Power Plant (south) – about 2,300 MW
Hagit Combined Cycle Power Plant – around 1,500 MW
Ashkelon Power Plant (dual-fuel) – about 1,000 MW
Dalia Power Plant (near Al-Quds) – around 900–1,000 MW
Together, these facilities generate over 50% of Israel’s electricity.
If these power plants are targeted or taken offline in a conflict scenario, a significant portion of Israel’s power grid would be disrupted, potentially leading to widespread blackouts. (PW)
