Venezuelan Acting President Engages Lula, Petro, and Sánchez After U.S. Aggression
The dialogues reflected a shared commitment to advancing a broad bilateral cooperation agenda based on international law and state sovereignty.
Venezuela, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Venezuela’s Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, held conversations with the leaders of Brazil, Colombia, and Spain to denounce what she described as a “criminal, illegal, and illegitimate aggression” against the country and to reaffirm Caracas’ commitment to the diplomatic path.
Rodríguez announced on Friday that she held diplomatic contacts with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Colombian President Gustavo Petro, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in the context of what she described as the “serious criminal, illegal, and illegitimate aggression perpetrated against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”
Armed Attacks and Violations of International Law
During the discussions, Rodríguez provided a detailed account of the armed attacks against Venezuelan territory, which resulted in the killing of more than one hundred civilians and military personnel.
She also addressed the serious violations of international law committed during these actions, including the violation of the personal immunity of the constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, as well as that of the First Lady and First Combatant, Cilia Flores.
Engagement with Brazil, Colombia, and Spain
The diplomatic exchanges reflected a convergence of views on the importance of dialogue and international cooperation. Rodríguez expressed special gratitude to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the people of Brazil for their solidarity and support during the most critical moments following the aggression against Venezuela.
In her conversation with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, Rodríguez reaffirmed that Venezuela and Colombia are brotherly nations, committed to advancing together to confront shared challenges on the basis of mutual respect and regional cooperation.
In talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, she thanked the Spanish government for what she described as its courageous stance in condemning the aggression against Venezuela, and expressed Caracas’ interest in developing a broad and mutually beneficial bilateral agenda.
Commitment to Sovereignty and Bilateral Cooperation
The discussions underscored a shared commitment to advancing a comprehensive agenda of bilateral cooperation, grounded in respect for international law, the sovereignty of states, and dialogue among peoples.
Rodríguez emphasized that Venezuela remains open to constructive engagement with international partners, provided that such engagement respects national independence and rejects coercive or aggressive policies.
Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace as the Strategic Path
In concluding her remarks, the acting president reaffirmed that Venezuela will continue to confront this aggression through diplomatic channels, in line with the principles of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace.
She described diplomacy as the only viable path for defending Venezuela’s sovereignty and preserving peace, reiterating Caracas’ commitment to dialogue, international law, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. (PW)
