Velayati to Hezbollah Secretary-General: Iran Ready to Confront Any External Threat
Senior Iranian Advisor Stresses Historical Unity of Iran–Lebanon Axis and Firm Readiness Against US and Israeli Aggression
Iran | PUREWILAYAH.COM - Ali Akbar Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening and senior adviser to Iran’s Leader, has affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared to confront any external threat, stressing that Tehran has no intention of aggression but will respond decisively to hostile actions.
Velayati made the remarks in a formal letter addressed to Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, offering condolences over the passing of Sayyed Abdul Karim Nasrallah, the father of the late resistance leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Condolences and Strategic Message
In his message, Velayati described the deceased as a “patient and steadfast mujahid” and extended condolences first to Iran’s Leader and then to the leadership, scholars, fighters, and family of the resistance.
He emphasized the enduring bond between Iran and Hezbollah, noting that the relationship is not tactical or temporary, but rooted in centuries of shared religious, intellectual, and civilizational history.
“The relationship between Iran and Lebanon’s Shiites is a deep, historical one, proceeding along a single ideological and civilizational path,” Velayati wrote.
Iran–Lebanon Ties Rooted in History, Not Politics
Velayati outlined historical links between Iran and the Shiite communities of Jabal Amel, highlighting the migration of major scholars from Lebanon to Iran during periods of Ottoman persecution and their central role in shaping Iran’s religious and political institutions.
He stressed that this shared legacy forms the backbone of today’s resistance axis and explains the strategic depth of Iran–Hezbollah relations.
“There is no essential difference between Iran and the Shiites of Lebanon; both stand within the same continuum of belief, resistance, and historical mission,” he said.
Resistance as a Defensive Necessity
Addressing the role of Hezbollah, Velayati underscored that the Lebanese resistance constitutes the primary barrier preventing Israeli expansion and occupation.
“The Shiites of Lebanon form the main pillar of resistance in the country and a solid barrier against the Zionist regime,” he wrote, warning that without Hezbollah, Israel would “devour Lebanon even more easily than Syria.”
Iran’s Strategic Posture: No Aggression, Full Readiness
Velayati concluded with a clear strategic position, reiterating Iran’s readiness to confront hostile powers—particularly the United States and Israel—while rejecting any intent of initiating conflict.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the main pillar of resistance, has no intention of aggression against others,” he stated.
“However, it is fully prepared to stand against any external threat and enemy—especially criminal America and its malignant appendage, the Zionist regime.”
He expressed confidence that the resistance front will ultimately prevail.
“Victory will undoubtedly belong to the Resistance Axis, God willing.”
Velayati’s message combines condolence with strategic signaling, reaffirming Iran’s historical bond with Hezbollah, its unwavering support for the resistance axis, and its readiness to confront external threats without retreat or compromise. (PW)
