US Vice President Accuses Russia of Rejecting Talks
US Vice President accuses Moscow of blocking negotiations, Kremlin insists Putin is ready to meet Trump in Moscow
USA, PUREWILAYAH.COM – US Vice President J.D. Vance claimed on Sunday that Russia has refused to participate in both bilateral and trilateral talks involving the United States, Ukraine, and Moscow.
In an interview with Fox News, Vance expressed frustration with what he described as Russia’s unwillingness to engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at advancing peace talks.
“Unfortunately, what we have seen over the last couple weeks, the Russians have refused to sit down with any bilateral meetings with the Ukrainians,” Vance said.
“They have refused to sit down with any trilateral meetings, where the president or some other member of the administration could sit down with the Russians and the Ukrainians.”
His remarks come as President Donald Trump has repeatedly voiced impatience with the slow pace of Ukraine peace negotiations.
Kremlin’s Position
Moscow, however, has pushed back on suggestions that it is avoiding diplomacy. Kremlin officials have stressed that Kiev has shown no real interest in peace, saying that Ukraine is relying on “megaphone diplomacy” and rejecting Russian settlement proposals.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reaffirmed on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is prepared to meet Trump, provided the US leader accepts an invitation to visit Moscow.
“This invitation still stands,” Peskov told TASS. “Putin is ready and will be glad to meet President Trump. It will then all depend on Trump’s decision.”
Conditions for Meeting with Zelensky
While the Kremlin signaled openness to hosting Trump, Peskov ruled out a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky unless peace talks achieve tangible progress.
An “unprepared” meeting with Zelensky, Peskov argued, would amount to a “PR stunt doomed to failure.”
The statements underscore ongoing tensions in the negotiation process, with Washington accusing Moscow of obstructing dialogue, while Russia maintains it is open to diplomacy but skeptical of Ukraine’s intentions.
Moscow maintains it is prepared to pursue a political settlement, but charges that Kiev is blocking substantive progress. (PW)
