US-Israel Aid in Gaza Designed to Force Displacement: MSF
Christopher Lockyear condemns humanitarian aid mechanism as a pretense for ethnic cleansing, citing systematic deprivation and targeting of medical staff.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Secretary-General of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), Christopher Lockyear, issued a sharp condemnation of the US-Israeli humanitarian aid mechanism in Gaza, calling it a "catastrophic failure" and a cynical instrument of forced displacement disguised as humanitarian relief.
Following reports of deadly chaos during an aid drop in Rafah—where dozens were injured—Lockyear highlighted that Palestinians, isolated from food, clean water, and medical aid for nearly three months, are being funneled behind fences to receive minimal aid under inhumane conditions.
“This is not relief, it is manipulation,” Lockyear stated. “It simulates compliance with humanitarian law while deepening the suffering of civilians.”
"System Designed to Justify Displacement"
Lockyear dismantled the narrative that restrictions are necessary to prevent aid diversion, calling such claims “baseless.” He emphasized that MSF medical teams on the ground have treated thousands of patients and directly witnessed the urgent need for unimpeded humanitarian access.
“This system is not broken—it was designed this way, to justify displacement and enable a wider strategy of ethnic cleansing,” he warned.
The MSF chief pointed to the Israeli-controlled aid drop zones, often inaccessible to Gaza’s most vulnerable, including the elderly and disabled. He accused the Israeli military of tightly controlling aid routes to simulate humanitarian compliance while intentionally denying critical support.
Aid Bottlenecks and Humanitarian Entrapment
Lockyear further described how Israeli authorities routinely allow only small batches of aid convoys to cross into Gaza, only to halt them arbitrarily just inside the border.
This calculated throttling, he warned, prevents essential medical care from reaching women, children, and the chronically ill. The deliberate delays, he said, are designed to perpetuate suffering rather than alleviate it.
Gaza: A Mass Grave for Palestinians and Humanitarians
In an earlier statement in April, MSF declared that “Gaza has been turned into a mass grave of Palestinians and those coming to their assistance,” as the Israeli military escalated its offensive through airstrikes, ground assaults, and naval attacks.
“We are witnessing in real time the destruction and forced displacement of the entire population in Gaza,” said MSF’s emergency coordinator Amande Bazerolle.
She added that the humanitarian response has been crippled under the weight of relentless insecurity and supply shortages, leaving Palestinians with no access to care.
Systematic Targeting of Medical Workers
MSF also documented a disturbing trend of attacks on aid workers and medical personnel. Over the past 18 months—and especially in the last three weeks—multiple incidents have involved the killing of humanitarian workers, despite clear notifications to Israeli forces about their locations.
“The so-called ‘humanitarian notification system’ has become utterly unreliable,” said MSF, noting that even clearly marked health centers, MSF offices, and staff residences were targeted.
In many cases, staff and patients were trapped for hours inside bombarded facilities, unable to evacuate safely.
International Law Violations and Deafening Silence
Claire Magone, General Director of MSF, condemned what she called the "horrific killing of aid workers," attributing it to a "complete disregard" by Israeli forces for international humanitarian law.
“The silence and unconditional support of Israel’s closest allies further emboldens these actions,” Magone said.
Doctors Without Borders concluded that Gaza’s total siege has exhausted critical supplies. The organization is now operating with dwindling stocks of painkillers, antibiotics, chronic disease medications, and surgical tools.
“We are out of essential items. The blockade is strangling humanitarian life support,” MSF warned. (PW)
