U.S. Demands Venezuela Sever Ties With Iran, China, Cuba and Russia
Washington Conditions Oil Production on Political Realignment and Exclusive Energy Cooperation
United States, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The United States has reportedly demanded that Venezuela sever its economic ties with Iran, China, Cuba, and Russia as a condition for increasing oil production, according to a report by a U.S.-based television broadcaster.
The demands were reportedly presented to Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, outlining sweeping political and economic conditions tied to Washington’s control over Venezuela’s energy sector.
Washington’s Conditions: Cut Alliances, Accept U.S. Dominance
According to the report, the United States has put forward two primary demands:
First, Venezuela must expel China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba and completely sever economic relations with these countries.
Second, Caracas is required to accept exclusive cooperation with the United States in the field of oil production, effectively granting Washington privileged access to Venezuela’s energy resources.
The reported conditions signal a demand for full geopolitical realignment, tying Venezuela’s oil production directly to U.S. political approval.
Trump Claims Oil Transfer Agreement
Earlier the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Venezuela’s interim authorities had allegedly agreed to hand over up to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States.
The announcement came amid escalating U.S. pressure and followed Washington’s recent military actions against Venezuela.
U.S. Military Aggression and State of Emergency
On January 3, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto stated that the United States had struck civilian and military targets in Caracas, describing the attacks as military aggression.
A state of emergency was subsequently declared across the country.
Trump later confirmed that the United States had launched large-scale strikes on Venezuela, and announced that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of the country.
Maduro Detained, Washington Claims Interim Rule
Following their capture, Maduro and his wife were taken to the United States and held at a detention facility in Brooklyn, New York. On January 5, they appeared before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where U.S. authorities accused them of involvement in drug trafficking — allegations that both defendants have denied.
Trump also claimed that the United States would assume interim governance of Venezuela, and stated that Washington expects to secure compensation for U.S. oil companies from Caracas.
The reported demands to sever ties with Venezuela’s key international partners, combined with military action and economic ultimatums, underscore Washington’s continued effort to reshape Venezuela’s political alignment and seize control over its strategic energy resources.
Caracas has repeatedly described U.S. actions as aggression and interference in its sovereign affairs, rejecting foreign dictates over its alliances and national policy. (PW)
