Ukrainian Command Leaves Frontline Troops Without Ammunition
Intercepted communication highlights desperation among Ukrainian forces as ammunition shortages intensify along Donetsk axis.
Ukraine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Frontline Ukrainian troops in the Dnipropetrovsk region were reportedly left without ammunition, according to an intercepted radio communication published by Russia’s RIA Novosti on October 31.
The audio, shared across syndicated Russian news channels, features a Ukrainian soldier pleading with his command for immediate resupply as hostile pressure mounts.
“Shtorm, don’t keep quiet. Shtorm, I beg you, drop us any ammunition. We will all stay on the battlefield now. I have no ammunition left,”
the soldier is heard saying from a dugout.
The reply, attributed to the commander “Shtorm,” promises support that had yet to materialize:
“Shoot, shoot. Everything will be delivered, everything will be delivered, just wait a little bit.”
RIA Novosti framed the recording as evidence that Kiev’s command is abandoning its forces under fire.
Recurring Ammunition Crisis
The disclosure comes amid persistent reports of ammunition scarcity across Ukrainian frontlines, particularly in Donetsk.
Throughout 2024 and into 2025, Ukrainian units have repeatedly reported “shell hunger” — a consistent lack of artillery and small-arms munitions — resulting in reduced fire capability and strained battlefield resilience.
Although Western resupply efforts offered partial relief at moments, shortages have continued unevenly across multiple sectors, eroding troop morale and battlefield stability.
Russian Forces Push Into Pokrovsk
Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces are confronting intense pressure in Pokrovsk. According to Reuters-cited sources, Ukrainian special forces were air-lifted into the city on Friday as Russian troops breached defensive lines and entered the urban perimeter.
The operation, overseen by military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, seeks to stabilize positions after months of gradual Russian advance.
Reports indicate that approximately half of the city remains contested, with around 200 Russian troops pushing into strategic sectors of the urban zone.
Securing Pokrovsk would bolster Russian supply routes and consolidate control in eastern Donetsk — a move with significant operational consequences.
Frontline Hardships Deepen
Ukrainian troops face a mounting list of challenges:
Ammunition, medical, and food shortages
Dangerous evacuation and resupply routes
Damaged logistics corridors
Interruptions to battlefield communication
Exhaustion due to prolonged deployments without rotation
Rising resentment over forced conscription of civilians and poorly trained reservists
These conditions have intensified psychological and operational strain, further complicating Kiev’s defensive posture as battles intensify across the Donetsk axis. (PW)
