Two Narratives of Bloody Clashes in Aleppo, Syria
As fighting intensifies between the SDF and factions aligned with al-Jolani, rival accounts trade blame over civilian casualties, shelling of residential neighborhoods, and responsibility of violance
Syria, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Several hours after clashes erupted, local sources reported escalating tensions in the Syrian city of Aleppo, with intense fighting between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and elements affiliated with Abu Mohammad al-Jolani.
Syrian sources said that clashes broke out on Monday afternoon between fighters from Jolani’s so-called Ministry of Defense and SDF militants in the al-Ashrafieh and al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods of Aleppo.
Syrian state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariyah reported that SDF militants targeted checkpoints of the internal security forces loyal to the Jolani administration near the Sheihan–Lairamoun intersection in northern Aleppo.
Several hours into the fighting, local sources confirmed a further escalation across the city, with heavy street battles continuing between SDF forces and Jolani-affiliated elements. Below are the two competing accounts of the clashes:
SDF Media Center’s Account
The SDF Media Center stated that attacks by forces linked to the Jolani administration on residential areas in the al-Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods injured 17 people and killed one woman.
The center held the Jolani administration fully responsible for the dangerous consequences of these attacks on civilian areas in Aleppo, warning that such actions undermine Syria’s unity.
Footage circulating online shows large numbers of Aleppo residents fleeing the city as the fighting intensifies.
Account by Jolani’s Official News Agency
According to this version, SDF forces are shelling residential neighborhoods in Aleppo.
SANA, citing a security source, reported that the Jolani administration is evacuating civilians from the areas of fighting.
The Syrian Interior Ministry claimed that SDF attacks killed one child and one woman, and wounded 15 others. (PW)
