Tunis – In a powerful reflection on the enduring impact of the resistance, Tunisian academic and writer Professor Monia Baazawi has highlighted the profound legacy of the martyred leader in fortifying Islamic unity and steadfastly defending the Palestinian cause.
Speaking on his visionary leadership, Baazawi emphasised that the great martyr left an unshakable model for future generations in the face of global arrogance, registering his presence in history and the collective consciousness of the world.
“He was an outstanding figure who championed the Palestinian cause and defended the dignity of Muslim nations—not only in Iran but across Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and beyond—offering unwavering support to every free Muslim globally,” Baazawi noted.
Preserving the Path of the Revolution
Reflecting on the historical continuity of the resistance, the Tunisian professor pointed out that following the passing of Imam Khomeini (RA), the martyred leader played a pivotal role in preserving the foundational values of the Islamic Revolution. She noted that he continued this noble trajectory while strictly adhering to the epic tradition and path of Imam Husayn (AS).
Confronting Arrogance: A Human and Islamic Duty
Baazawi stressed that the martyr transformed the fight against global arrogance (Istikbar) into both a human and Islamic obligation. His leadership was driven by a commitment to fulfil his human duty before executing his Islamic responsibilities.
“His ultimate goal was to strengthen the bonds of unity, consolidate the ranks of Muslims, and bridge the divides that the Ummah has unfortunately faced across social, educational, and political spheres,” she explained.
According to Baazawi, the martyred leader navigated complex regional issues with profound wisdom and insight. His forward-looking approach ensured that all segments of society—rather than just political elites—would cooperate in solidarity to manage societal affairs.
Countering Colonial Plots and the Defence of Identity
Addressing the historical challenges faced by the Islamic world, Baazawi pointed out that the Ummah has long contended with imperialist plots. She highlighted the infamous Sykes-Picot Agreement as a primary instrument used to disintegrate Islamic societies, weaken the religion, and strike at the core of Islamic social identity.
“Returning to the final message of Imam Khomeini (RA), we see a profound emphasis on preserving the unity and cohesion of the Islamic Ummah and supporting the Palestinian cause—the fundamental axis of the Islamic Revolution,” she remarked.
The Blood of Martyrs as a Unifying Force
Baazawi concluded by stressing that the pure blood of the martyrs has been instrumental in uniting nations to confront monumental challenges, particularly against American imperialism and global Zionism—forces that seek to distort the collective and intellectual awareness of the youth.
She emphasised that true Islamic unity must serve as a foundation for the younger generation to reform society, build a future rooted in cooperation, and elevate educational and cultural awareness across the Muslim world.
