Truth Promoters’ Muharram Majlis: “Jihad of Clarification” in the Age of Misinformation
Second night explores Tabyeen as a divine obligation and strategic resistance against modern propaganda and ideological confusion
PUREWILAYAH.COM — In a powerful continuation of their English-language Muharram series, the Truth Promoters community hosted the second night of Majlis commemorations via YouTube livestream.
The event, rich in intellectual and emotional content, featured Qur’an recitation, poetic reflections, a keynote lecture on Tabyeen (clarification), the moving Maqtal of Muslim ibn Aqeel, a heartfelt Latmiya, and concluded with a brief but solemn Ziyarat Ashura.
Main Lecture: Clarification as a Sacred Duty
The highlight of the evening was the lecture centered on the Islamic concept of Tabyeen, or clarification—presented not merely as a recommendation, but as a divine obligation, particularly critical in today’s era of mass misinformation and psychological warfare.
Drawing on the insights of Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei and key moments from Islamic history, the speaker, Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally, outlined Tabyeen as a proactive spiritual resistance, and framed it as what he called the “Jihad of Clarification.”
Key points included:
Historical Failures: The tragedy of Karbala was traced to the failure of the early Muslim community to clarify truth, allowing injustice and confusion to reign.
Modern Soft War: The speaker described today’s conflicts as "soft wars," fought not with bullets but with narratives, media, and perception—especially targeting youth.
Media as Weapon: Mainstream media was criticized as a tool for distorting facts, rewriting history, and weakening resistance through psychological manipulation.
Qur’anic Command: Tabyeen was presented as a Qur’anic mandate and a Prophetic legacy, necessary to combat fitnah (confusion) and preserve clarity in society.
Collective Responsibility: The duty to clarify truth, the speaker emphasized, belongs to scholars, educators, influencers, and every conscious Muslim.
Clarification as Revival: Far from being a defensive measure, Tabyeen was described as a force of revival—fueling resistance, preserving identity, and awakening society.

Maqtal: The Martyrdom of Muslim ibn Aqeel
The Majlis also featured the tragic narrative of Muslim ibn Aqeel, the cousin and envoy of Imam Hussain (AS), who was sent to Kufa to assess support for the uprising against Yazid. Initially welcomed by the people, Muslim was later betrayed after Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad took control of the city through fear and manipulation.
The Maqtal detailed Muslim’s arrest, the denial of his final requests, and his brutal execution. The story also covered the martyrdom of his host, Hani ibn Urwah, and the heartbreaking fate of Muslim’s two young sons—both murdered after a failed escape.

Latmiya: Mourning with Love and Loyalty
Following the Maqtal, attendees listened to a Latmiya titled “Spirit of Hussain”—a poetic lament expressing devotion to Imam Hussain (AS) and his loyal companions. The recitation invoked the sorrow of the women and children of Karbala, while calling on believers to emulate the spirit of sacrifice and faith.

Ziyarat: Concluding with Spiritual Allegiance
The evening concluded with the recitation of a unique, modern, poetic interpretive translation of Ziyarat Ashura, titled ‘The Communion of Ashura’, allowing participants to spiritually connect with the martyrs of Karbala. The Ziyarat served as a reaffirmation of love for Imam Hussain (AS) and a rejection of tyranny—encapsulating the evening’s themes of clarity, resistance, and unwavering allegiance.
