Trump Urges Israel to Halt Gaza Bombing After Hamas Response
Hamas Agrees to Prisoner Exchange Framework, Signals Readiness for Negotiations Toward Wider Settlement
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM – U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Israel to immediately stop its bombing campaign in Gaza, describing a potential opportunity to secure the release of Israeli captives “safely and quickly.”
The statement, posted Friday on Trump’s Truth Social platform, came shortly after the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas announced its formal response to the Trump Gaza plan — a move the U.S. President hailed as an indication of the group’s readiness for “lasting peace.”
Trump added that talks on “contentious details” are still ongoing, asserting, “This is not about Gaza alone, this is about long sought PEACE in the Middle East.”
Hamas Confirms Prisoner Exchange Readiness
In its official statement, Hamas declared its approval of a framework for a prisoner exchange deal based on Trump’s proposal.
The movement agreed to release all Israeli captives — both living and deceased — once conditions on the ground permit the process.
Hamas confirmed it had delivered its response after extensive consultations within its leadership bodies, with Palestinian factions, and through dialogue with international mediators.
The movement emphasized its readiness to immediately enter mediated negotiations to finalize the details of the exchange.
Gaza Administration and Wider Political Issues
Hamas also reiterated its willingness to transfer the administration of Gaza to a technocratic Palestinian authority composed of independents, formed on the basis of national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.
At the same time, the group stressed that other aspects of Trump’s proposal — including issues concerning Gaza’s long-term future and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people — require a broader national decision.
Such matters, Hamas noted, must be discussed within a unified Palestinian national framework in accordance with international law and relevant resolutions. (PW)
