Trump Posts, Then Deletes His Conversation with Putin on Iran and Ukraine
Former U.S. President discusses Ukraine’s drone attacks and Iran’s nuclear ambitions in a lengthy call with Putin, later deletes social media post
United States, PUREWILAYAH.COM - On Wednesday, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had a 75-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Trump, the conversation centered on the escalating conflict in Ukraine, particularly recent drone strikes conducted by Ukrainian forces against Russian military aircraft and airfields.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump revealed that both leaders discussed “the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides.” He characterized the exchange as "constructive" but admitted it would not lead to an immediate peace agreement.
Putin Threatens Response to Ukrainian Drone Attacks
Trump reported that President Putin was firm in his intention to retaliate for the recent Ukrainian drone operations. “President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields,” Trump noted in his now-deleted post.
The strikes, which reportedly destroyed multiple military bombers and penetrated deep into Russian territory, have escalated already heightened tensions between the two nations.
Iran Nuclear Program Also on the Agenda
In addition to the Ukraine conflict, the two leaders reportedly discussed Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Trump expressed concern that “time is running out” on Tehran’s decision regarding nuclear weapons and insisted that Iran must not be allowed to develop one.
Trump claimed that Putin agreed with this stance and even offered to help mediate negotiations with Iran. “It is my opinion that Iran has been slow walking their decision on this very important matter,” Trump wrote. “We will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time.”
Shortly after publishing the post on Truth Social, Trump deleted it without explanation.
White House: Trump Was Not Briefed on Ukraine Strikes
Responding to the news of Trump’s call with Putin, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump had not been briefed in advance about Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russian targets. “He was not,” Leavitt said in response to media inquiries about coordination with Ukrainian officials.
The statement suggests that Trump’s knowledge of the drone operation came after the fact and through non-official channels.
Ukraine’s Deep Strike Operation Hits Russian Heartland
The Ukrainian drone strikes have reportedly marked a new escalation in the war. On Sunday, a military airfield in Russia’s Irkutsk Region—deep in Siberia—was struck by multiple drones. Regional Governor Igor Kobzev stated that one drone hit an abandoned building in the village of Novomaltinsk, while others targeted military areas near the settlement of Sredny.
Kobzev added that the drones were launched from a small truck, although the exact number involved remains unconfirmed. Footage circulating online—unverified at this time—suggests that at least three drones were used.
CBS News reported that Ukrainian security sources described the attack as “large-scale,” striking five Russian bases and destroying military bombers. The operation was reportedly supervised personally by President Volodymyr Zelensky and took a year and a half to plan. (PW)
