Trump, Netanyahu in Heated Dispute Over Iran Policy – Israeli Report
Israeli media reveals heated call as Trump pushes diplomacy and Iran warns of retaliation against potential Israeli attacks on nuclear sites
United States, PUREWILAYAH.COM - A tense phone conversation reportedly took place on Thursday between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump regarding how to address the growing tensions with Iran, according to Israeli media outlets.
Channel 12 reported that the discussion was marked by significant disagreements.
President Trump is said to have emphasized his desire for a diplomatic resolution to the standoff with Iran. According to the report, he expressed confidence in his ability to secure a favorable negotiated deal, stating his intention to pursue a solution that would be mutually beneficial to all parties involved.
This account contradicts earlier official statements that the phone call had concluded on amicable terms and in mutual understanding.
U.S. Officials Reaffirm Diplomatic Focus
The report comes shortly after U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appeared on Fox News, where she stated that President Trump had assigned her the task of following up with Netanyahu on the progress of U.S.-Israeli coordination.
Noem emphasized the importance of maintaining unity as negotiations with Iran proceed.
This development reinforces earlier media reports that point to a growing policy rift between Netanyahu and Trump.
Netanyahu, reportedly pushing for a preemptive military strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, appears increasingly at odds with Trump’s preference for diplomacy and negotiation.
Israel Reportedly Preparing Military Strike on Iran
According to earlier reports from CNN and Axios, Israeli military planners are drafting scenarios for a potential rapid strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities in the event that diplomatic channels collapse.
Axios quoted an Israeli official who suggested that the “window of opportunity” for such an operation might soon close, hinting that Israel is seriously considering preemptive action.
This threat comes despite Iran’s longstanding assertion that its nuclear program is strictly peaceful and fully compliant with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards.
Iran Responds: Any Attack Will Be Met With Decisive Action
In response to the Israeli threats, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent a formal communication to both the UN Secretary-General and the IAEA. In the letter, Araghchi warned that Iran may be compelled to take “special measures” to protect its nuclear facilities and materials against Israeli aggression.
"Under conditions wherein threats made by the Zionist fanatics persist, the Islamic Republic of Iran shall be left with no recourse but to implement special measures for the protection of its nuclear facilities and materials, the relevant particulars of which shall thereafter be communicated to the IAEA," the letter stated.
Araghchi reaffirmed that Iran’s nuclear activities remain peaceful and fully under IAEA oversight. He warned that any attempt to sabotage or attack Iran’s nuclear infrastructure would trigger a decisive Iranian response.
Growing Rift Signals Policy Shift in Washington
The emerging division between Netanyahu’s hardline stance and Trump’s stated diplomatic priorities marks a significant development in the regional dynamics concerning Iran. While Israel continues to press its case for military action, Washington's signals of restraint may reflect deeper calculations aimed at avoiding a new escalation in the Middle East. (PW)
