In a resounding message delivered at the opening of the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity, prominent Shia Marja’ Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani underscored that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s steadfast resistance against US and Zionist aggression is not merely a national struggle, but a vital defence of the entire Muslim world and regional security.
Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani’s statement framed Islamic unity not just as a strategic recommendation, but as a “rational necessity and binding religious obligation” for the Muslim Ummah. He warned that Global Arrogance and the illegitimate Zionist entity are actively working to fracture the Muslim world through sectarian strife and manufactured crises.
The Illusion of Isolated Aggression
The senior cleric dismantled the dangerous misconception that American and Zionist hostility is directed solely at the Islamic Republic of Iran. “Experience has clearly shown that their goal is to dominate the region and prevent Islamic countries from gaining power,” he stated, warning that any Muslim nation seeking true independence and refusing to bow to foreign hegemony will inevitably face the wrath of imperialist forces.
He stressed that the security, dignity, and sovereignty of the Islamic world are inextricably linked, noting that no Muslim state can achieve sustainable power while its neighbours suffer from weakness, insecurity, and division.
Condemning the Use of Muslim Lands for Imperialist Plots
Addressing the geopolitical landscape, Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani expressed deep regret that certain Muslim lands are being utilised as launchpads and military bases to threaten the Islamic Republic. He reminded the Ummah of Iran’s historical sacrifices for the cause of Islamic unity and asserted that defending Iran’s territorial integrity and independence is a clear religious duty.
“In reality and in the long term, this defence is a defence of the security of the region and Muslim nations whom the common enemy seeks to dominate,” he declared, affirming that any aggression against the vanguard of the resistance will be met with a justified and necessary response.
The Zionist Entity: The Primary Enemy of the Ummah
Outlining a strategic roadmap for the Islamic world, the Marja’ identified the occupying Zionist regime and its oppressive backers as the absolute, primary enemy of the Ummah. He issued a stern condemnation of any diplomatic normalisation or assistance to the Zionist entity, describing such actions as a fundamental betrayal of the Muslim world’s interests.
Instead, he called for a unified, unwavering front in support of the oppressed peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, and other targeted nations standing firm against Zionist terror. He urged Islamic governments to deepen regional cooperation and sever ties with foreign powers whose sole interest lies in their own hegemony and the survival of the usurper regime.
A Directive to the Scholars and the Ummah
Concluding his directives, Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani placed a heavy responsibility on the shoulders of Islamic scholars, seminaries, and academic institutions. He warned against weaponising theological or scientific differences, firmly stating that such debates must remain within academic circles and must never be exploited to incite hostility or the fitna of takfir among Muslims.
He called upon the Ulama to lead the charge in exposing the hostile plots of the enemy, fostering high-level constructive dialogue, and developing practical, actionable strategies to bind the Muslim governments and peoples together. As the Axis of Resistance continues to confront global arrogance, the Marja’s message serves as a stark reminder: the survival and dignity of the Ummah depend on absolute unity under the banner of resistance.
