Three Israeli Soldiers Killed in Al-Qassam Ambush in Khan Younis
Hamas’ military wing strikes Israeli armored units in Khan Younis with advanced explosive devices, escalating its “David’s Stones” campaign as Israeli military casualties mount
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Three Israeli soldiers were killed and several others injured on Saturday evening in a complex ambush carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, targeting Israeli forces in the eastern area of Abasan al-Kabira, near Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
According to Hebrew media outlets, the operation began when Palestinian fighters emerged from a tunnel shaft and attached an improvised explosive device (IED) to an Israeli “Namer” armored personnel carrier.
The resulting explosion reportedly killed two soldiers instantly and left a third critically wounded.
The Hebrew news platform “Hadshot B’zman” reported that the blast occurred during a field operation by Israeli troops. It is believed the explosion was caused by an IED planted along the vehicle's route.
The report acknowledged casualties, though full details remain censored due to strict Israeli military gag orders.
Al-Qassam Claims Responsibility for Coordinated Strike
In a brief military communiqué, the Al-Qassam Brigades claimed full responsibility for the attack, stating that it targeted two armored vehicles using advanced “Istishhadiya (martyrdom-style)” explosive devices precisely installed within the vehicles’ command cabins.
Both carriers were completely incinerated, and all soldiers on board were reportedly killed.
The resistance group added that a third Israeli armored vehicle was struck with an “Yassin-105” anti-tank rocket, leading to its complete destruction.
Following the attack, Al-Qassam reported that it observed an Israeli military excavator attempting to bury the charred vehicles to extinguish the flames. Simultaneously, military helicopters were seen evacuating the dead and wounded from the scene.
“David’s Stones” Campaign Expands
This latest ambush is part of Al-Qassam's ongoing “David’s Stones” campaign, launched in response to the relentless Israeli onslaught on Gaza. The campaign has marked a strategic shift, with increasingly sophisticated and precise resistance operations targeting Israeli ground units.
Analysts suggest the Israeli military is suffering growing losses on the battlefield, particularly as Palestinian resistance fighters adapt and intensify their urban warfare tactics.
Rising Israeli Military Casualties
Since the start of its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Israeli military has acknowledged the deaths of 895 soldiers, including 451 killed in ground battles inside Gaza.
An additional 6,108 troops have been wounded, with 2,803 of those injuries sustained during ground combat, according to data released by the Israeli army.
Despite these figures, Israel continues to impose strict censorship on the dissemination of its battlefield losses, raising suspicions that the actual toll may be significantly higher than publicly disclosed.
As resistance operations intensify and the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza worsens, the conflict shows no signs of de-escalation. Meanwhile, Palestinian factions reaffirm their commitment to armed resistance until the siege and aggression against Gaza are brought to an end. (ARN)
