In a profound address bridging the spiritual and practical dimensions of leadership, Grand Ayatollah Abdullah Javadi Amoli recently outlined the divine mechanics of victory and the sacred responsibilities of those serving the Islamic establishment.
Speaking during a meeting with Iran’s Chief of Police, Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan, the senior Marja underscored that the unwavering presence of the people—combined with the sincere, selfless service of officials—forms the very bedrock of Allah’s promised victory.
Leadership as a Divine Trust (Amanah)
Addressing the heavy burden of authority, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli drew upon the Holy Quran’s concept of the “Trust” (Amanah). He noted that the divine offer made to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains was ultimately shouldered by humanity. He clarified that this trust extends far beyond material wealth; it is the profound station of divine trusteeship.
“Just as one who is granted authority becomes an ‘amir,’ one who is entrusted with divine trust must become ‘Aminollah’ — a trustee of God,” the Grand Ayatollah explained.
He reminded law enforcement and all public servants that the lives, property, honour, and territorial integrity of the Ummah are sacred trusts. True leadership in the path of Wilayah means recognising that any position of power is never a personal asset, but a weighty Amanah that must be guarded with absolute faithfulness and sincerity.
The Spiritual Engine: “Riding Through the Night”
Ayatollah Javadi Amoli stressed that public service and the protection of the Islamic society must be fuelled by a deep, private connection with the Almighty. Citing a luminous narration from Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS), he reminded his audience:
“The path to God is a long journey that cannot be undertaken except by riding through the night.”
He emphasised the vital role of night prayers (Salat al-Layl), explaining that the solitude of the night allows a believer to share their deepest vulnerabilities and true needs with Allah (SWT). It is this spiritual fortification that empowers the protectors of the Ummah to face worldly challenges with divine resolve.
Public Solidarity: The Key to Divine Assistance
At the heart of the Grand Ayatollah’s message was the undeniable power of the people’s presence. Referencing the Quranic promise of divine support—“It is He who supported you with His help and with the believers”—he drew a parallel to the historic Muslim triumph at the Battle of Khaybar.
“In conditions where victory appeared extremely difficult by outward calculations, divine help and the presence of the believers brought about triumph,” he noted.
He pointed out that the Islamic system’s continued steadfastness against the schemes of arrogant global powers is directly tied to the active, faithful presence of the masses. As long as the Ummah remains steadfast and united with their faith and the system, divine assistance will continuously envelop the society.
A Covenant of Shared Hardship
To maintain this unbreakable bond between the leadership and the people, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli urged officials to intimately share in the hardships, security concerns, and daily difficulties of the citizens. When the people witness their leaders walking alongside them in both ease and adversity, the mutual trust and solidarity that define a true Islamic society are profoundly strengthened.
Concluding his remarks, the esteemed scholar honoured the elevated, eternal status of the martyrs who have sacrificed everything for the cause of Allah, and offered prayers for the continued success of law enforcement forces and all servants of the Wilayah in fulfilling their divine trust with sincerity.
