“Wilayah in the Home – The First Stitch”
In the opening lecture of the Fatimiyyah series Wilayah in the Home, Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally described marriage as a divine covenant, structured around Qur’an 30:21 and the God-given principles of tranquility, love, and mercy. He stressed that these qualities are not cultural ornaments but core elements of a spiritually aligned household.
Sheikh Hassanally emphasized the decisive role of the woman as the stabilizing force of the home. Drawing from the guidance of Imam Khamenei, he explained that a wife’s wisdom, patience, and spiritual discipline shape the moral architecture of the family and nurture future generations rooted in God-consciousness.
He warned against modern pressures — materialism, inflated dowries, and the commodification of marriage — which undermine the sanctity of the marital covenant. As a corrective, he highlighted the marriage of Sayyidah Fatimah and Imam Ali as the model of sincerity, simplicity, and faith-driven partnership.
By “weaving faith into the first stitch,” he argued, couples build homes capable of weathering trials, cultivating harmony, and raising righteous, resilient children who carry forward the values of wilayah.
