Terror and Fear Grip Syrians in Homs
Recent footage shows armed groups loyal to his rule attacking multiple neighborhoods in Homs, burning homes and private property.
Syria, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Syrian residents across Homs Province report living in constant terror after the murder of a couple by tribal militants allied with the Jolani government. All indications point to a surge of lawlessness and a renewed wave of sectarian violence and tensions.
Armed Militants Attack Alawite Neighborhoods, Burn Homes
While Abu Mohammad al-Jolani continues his repressive campaign against various sects in Syria—particularly the Alawites—recent footage shows armed groups loyal to his rule attacking multiple neighborhoods in Homs, burning homes and private property.
Local Syrian sources confirmed that militants from the Bedouin Bani Khaled tribe, aligned with Jolani, carried out brutal assaults on Homs neighborhoods, especially Alawite-populated areas. In the Zaidal district south of Homs, an unidentified armed group murdered a man and his wife.
The terrorists then burned the woman’s body and wrote sectarian slogans on the walls using the victims’ blood.
Jolani’s Authorities Attempt to Justify Terrorist Crimes
Days after the Bani Khaled attacks, residents of Homs say they are overwhelmed with fear and confusion. Several sources said that they are deeply worried about their uncertain future under Jolani’s oppressive rule.
Even though the nature of the crimes clearly mirrors the sectarian violence that has marked Jolani’s rule across Syria, his Interior Ministry issued a statement claiming there is no credible evidence that the Zaidal killings had a sectarian motive.
The ministry alleged that the sectarian slogans were written merely to “mislead” and “provoke communal conflict.”
A 42-year-old woman from al-Zahra, who withheld her name out of fear, told Al Mayadeen: “We never imagined living through such horror again. We thought the war was behind us, but suddenly gunfire returned to the streets. People are terrified and running in panic.”
She added that her children sleep in a dark room away from the windows and that she no longer dares to sleep at all.
A female university student from Homs said the entire city is in shock:
“What happened was incredibly painful. People fear the outbreak of new sectarian tensions. Everyone just wants peace to return.”
Syrians Warn of Expanding Chaos as Militants Act Without Restraint
Syrian social media users harshly criticized the chaos spreading under Jolani’s rule, warning that the presence of uncontrolled extremist and terrorist groups fuels both crime and violence. Any negligence, they stressed, allows these militants to terrorize civilians and threatens the social fabric.
Activists circulated images from damaged Homs neighborhoods, warning that the violence could spread to other cities, triggering a renewed wave of widespread sectarian conflict.
Human rights activist Samer al-Daiee told Al-Arabi al-Jadeed that Homs is dangerously unstable: “People in the destroyed districts suffer from insecurity and injustice. Throughout Syria, many groups wield excessive power over civilians. The unchecked weapons in their hands can turn a simple criminal act into a social explosion within hours.”
He added that the most dangerous aspect is that some local groups’ statements have supported the armed elements responsible for these crimes instead of calling for the rule of law.
Syrian Activists: Jolani’s Gangs Commit Atrocities Similar to Israeli Crimes
Recently, a Syrian female activist exposed Jolani’s execution of dozens of other Alawite civilians in Homs, stressing that his gang’s crimes resemble those of the Israeli regime.
Syrian writer Shouq Ibrahim said: “Jolani is an international terrorist responsible for every criminal act he carries out in Syria. His terrorist gangs commit the most barbaric crimes against Alawites, Shias, Druze, and Christians.”
She revealed that in just a few days, Jolani’s forces executed dozens of Alawites in their Homs prisons.
“What is happening in Syria is a deliberate attempt at genocide against the Alawites. Jolani’s gangs do not stop at killing—they continue forced displacement, looting of homes, and the seizure of people’s property.” (PW)
