Tensions Soar: Pakistan Says Indian Strike Imminent in 24 to 36 Hours
Islamabad warns of decisive response as tensions rise over Kashmir attack and cross-border claims
Pakistan, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Pakistan has alleged that India is planning to launch a military strike on its territory within the next 24 to 36 hours, claiming the recent deadly incident in Pahalgam is being used as a false pretext.
“Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends to launch a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours, using the Pahalgam incident as a false pretext,” Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Tuesday evening on X.
“Any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response. India will be fully responsible for any serious consequences in the region,” Tarar stated.
Modi Grants Military “Full Operational Freedom”
The statement followed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to grant his armed forces “full operational freedom” to decide the method, targets, and timing of their response to the Pahalgam attack.
The April 22 assault in India’s Jammu and Kashmir union territory left 26 people dead, mostly tourists, and was claimed by The Resistance Front—allegedly an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba group.
India has linked the attackers to Pakistani networks, reviving long-standing claims that Islamabad supports cross-border militancy.
Islamabad Denies Involvement, Alleges Indian Provocation
Islamabad has rejected New Delhi’s claims and in turn alleged that India itself supports terrorist networks operating within Pakistani territory.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif suggested that the Pahalgam attack was a false flag operation orchestrated by Indian forces to justify potential military action.
Cross-Border Violence and the Kashmir Dispute
The disputed region of Kashmir, divided by the Line of Control since the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, remains a major flashpoint between the two nuclear powers.
Indian media reported on Tuesday that four counterterrorism operations were underway in Jammu and Kashmir in response to the April 22 attack. Prime Minister Modi vowed to punish “the terrorists and their backers.”
India Rejects Pakistan's Allegations at the UN
Responding to Islamabad’s remarks, India’s Deputy Envoy to the United Nations, Yojna Patel, dismissed the claims as “baseless allegations against India,” signaling heightened diplomatic tensions on the global stage.
With both nations trading serious allegations and preparing for possible escalation, concerns are mounting over regional stability in South Asia. (ARN)
