Tehran Stands Resilient in Aftermath of War, US Activist Reports
An American journalist and activist, visiting Tehran, provides a firsthand account of a city recovering with remarkable speed and spirit following a 12-day conflict with Israel and the United States.
Tehran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - An American journalist and activist, Calla Mairead Walsh, has described a city in rapid recovery, with life returning to a semblance of normality. Walsh was part of a delegation of foreign journalists invited to Iran by the Sobh Media Center in mid-July 2025, to witness the aftermath of what she termed "unprovoked Israeli-American aggression."
Despite significant damage to both civilian and military infrastructure, Walsh noted the resilience of the Iranian people, a quality she attributes to their long experience with sanctions, sabotage, and conflict. Her account paints a picture of a populace unbowed by the recent hostilities, a sentiment that she says has forged a stronger sense of national unity.
During her visit, Walsh was given a tour of the IRGC Aerospace Park, which showcased Iran's military and technological advancements. She also visited the former US Embassy, now the Den of Espionage Museum, a site of historical significance in US-Iran relations.
In her writings, Walsh is critical of some within the Western pro-Palestine movement for what she perceives as a failure to recognize the attack on Iran as a direct act of US imperialism, rather than an independent Israeli action. She asserts that Iran and its allies in the "Axis of Resistance" are the primary military forces opposing Zionism and US imperialism in the region.
Walsh concludes that the war, far from weakening the nation, has strengthened Iranian resolve. She believes that any attempts to collapse the Iranian state are doomed to fail and may, in fact, accelerate the decline of Zionism. As a call to action, Walsh emphasises the importance of direct action against Western companies that manufacture the weapons used in these conflicts. (PW)
