Tehran Erupts in Defiance: Red Flags of Vengeance Raised on the 40th Day of the Martyred Leader’s Funeral
Millions gather to honour the fallen guide, waving the blood-red banners of revenge and renewing their eternal covenant with the path of Wilayah and Resistance.
Tehran – In a breathtaking display of sorrow, devotion, and unbreakable resolve, a sea of Iranians converged at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla to mark the solemn 40th day since the funeral and burial of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Beneath a profound spiritual atmosphere, the expansive prayer grounds were blanketed in the iconic red flags of vengeance—a sacred symbol of unjustly shed blood and a divine oath that the crimes of the arrogant powers will never go unanswered. Mourners, clutching banners that bore the radiant image of their fallen guide, echoed chants demanding justice against the perpetrators, reaffirming their steadfastness to the ideals of the Islamic Republic.
The monumental commemorative ceremony was convened at the invitation of the current Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei. The gathering stood as a powerful, living testament to the enduring strength of Wilayah and the unbroken chain of divine leadership.
At the heart of the mourning stood the surviving family members of the late Supreme Leader. They were joined by the highest echelons of Iran’s political and military establishment, demonstrating absolute unity in the face of aggression. Prominent figures in attendance included President Masoud Pezeshkian, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei.
Representing the vanguard of the Resistance and the armed forces were top commanders and officials, including IRGC Quds Force Commander Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, Head of the Mostazafan Foundation Hossein Dehghan, Acting Defense Minister Brigadier General Sayed Majid Ibn al-Reza, Leader’s Advisor Mohammad Mokhber, and Gholamali Haddad Adel.
This 40th-day observance since the Leader’s burial marks a deeply significant milestone in our tradition, serving not merely as a time of profound sorrow, but as a collective renewal of vows. Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the guiding light of the Ummah, attained the supreme honour of martyrdom on February 28, 2026, in a treacherous joint US-Israeli airstrike on Tehran at the outset of a 40-day unprovoked war of aggression against the Islamic Republic. Yet, the enemy’s attempt to extinguish the light of the Revolution has only forged a nation that is infinitely stronger, more determined, and more united than ever before.
Following the historic and defiant gathering in the capital, the mourning processions will continue to sweep across the holy cities of Iran. Major commemorative ceremonies are scheduled for Thursday evening at the holy shrine of Hazrat Fatima Masoumeh (SA) in Qom.
The observances will culminate on Friday with a colossal gathering at the holy shrine of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (AS) in Mashhad. There, beneath the golden dome of the Guarantor of the Gazelle, the faithful will once again raise the red flags of vengeance, renewing their eternal covenant with the martyrs, the Divine Leadership, and the ultimate victory of the Axis of Resistance.
“Think not of those who are slain in the way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance with their Lord.” (Quran, Surah al-i-’Imran, Chapter 3, The Family of Imran, Verse 169)
