Tasnim: Reports of Iranian Negotiation Team’s Arrival in Islamabad Are False
Iran denies claims of talks in Pakistan, says negotiations remain suspended as US fails ceasefire commitments and Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iran has firmly rejected reports claiming that its negotiation team has arrived in Islamabad for talks with U.S. officials, calling the claims “completely false” and reaffirming that negotiations remain suspended amid continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Washington’s failure to uphold ceasefire commitments.
A knowledgeable source told Tasnim News Agency that circulating media reports about the presence of an Iranian negotiating delegation in Pakistan are entirely baseless.
“The news about the arrival of Iran’s negotiation team in Islamabad for talks with the Americans is completely false,” the source stated.
Negotiations Remain Suspended
The source stressed that diplomatic engagement remains on hold under current conditions, linking any resumption of talks to developments on the ground—particularly in Lebanon.
“As long as the United States does not fulfill its commitments under the ceasefire in Lebanon and the Zionist regime continues its attacks, negotiations remain suspended,” the source emphasized.
The statement reflects Tehran’s position that diplomacy cannot proceed in parallel with continued military aggression, especially when key ceasefire terms are being violated.
Lebanon at the Core of Ceasefire Conditions
Iran has repeatedly underscored that halting attacks on Lebanon is not a secondary issue, but a central pillar of the ceasefire framework.
Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has emphasized that continued Israeli strikes against Lebanon constitute a serious breach of the agreement and threaten to derail diplomatic efforts.
He stated that the cessation of attacks across the region—particularly in Lebanon—is an integral part of the ceasefire understanding, a position reinforced through mediation efforts led by Pakistan.
Ongoing Violations Undermine Diplomacy
Despite the ceasefire announcement, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have continued, raising concerns about the viability of the agreement and the prospects for meaningful negotiations.
Iranian officials have described these attacks as “savage” and warned that their continuation represents a deliberate attempt to prolong the conflict and weaken diplomatic pathways.
Araghchi has also called on the international community, particularly European states, to take serious action to halt the attacks, framing the situation as a test of global responsibility.
Ceasefire Must Extend Across All Fronts
Tehran maintains that the ceasefire cannot remain limited or selective, but must apply across all arenas of conflict, including Lebanon.
Iran has stated that it accepted the ceasefire proposal as a responsible step toward negotiations aimed at ending the war entirely, but warned that repeated violations—particularly by the United States and its allies—have deepened global distrust.
As tensions persist, Iran continues to insist that any meaningful diplomatic process depends on the full implementation of ceasefire commitments, beginning with the immediate halt of attacks on Lebanon. (PW)
