Tehran – Speaking on the sidelines of the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference, Musa Asad, Deputy of the Muslim University of Morogoro in Tanzania, reflected on the enduring legacy of the Martyred Supreme Leader, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, emphasising his foundational role in strengthening global Islamic unity and defending the oppressed.
Discussing the late Leader’s vision for confronting global arrogance (Istikbar) and its profound impact on the Muslim Ummah, Asad noted that the Martyred Ayatollah Khamenei’s approach was always rooted in unwavering support for the marginalised. “The Martyred Leader’s basis was always standing by the oppressed. Whether in Bosnia or anywhere else in the world, he consistently stood on the side of the marginalised,” Asad stated, highlighting the global reach of the late Imam’s principled stance.
Addressing the Martyred Supreme Leader’s perspective on the Islamic world’s engagement with non-Muslim nations, Asad pointed out that Imam Khamenei advocated for a prophetic approach rooted in courteous and constructive interaction. “We have been instructed by prophetic traditions to interact with them courteously and to inform them. Our duty as Muslims is to interact constructively, explaining the true beauties of Islam so that they can understand it,” he explained.
Asad also noted how recent global events, particularly the ongoing war in Gaza, have served as a catalyst for a worldwide awakening to the reality of the faith. “God has His own ways. Non-Muslims are witnessing what Islam truly is and are seeing the immense power of faith. Praise be to God, they are witnessing this reality and becoming convinced,” he observed.
Concluding his remarks, the Tanzanian scholar stressed that confronting common enemies is essential for strengthening ties among Muslim nations in the wake of the Martyred Leader’s passing. He cited the famous Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who likened the Muslims to a single body—if one part aches, the entire body suffers.
“This is the stage we must reach,” Asad emphasised. “We must set aside minor differences driven by national or personal interests to achieve the true unity the Prophet (PBUH) envisioned and to honour the path of our Martyred Leader.”
