Tabyeen as Urgency, Not Option: Truth Promoters’ Ashura Program, Night Five
You don’t have a week, you don’t have a month—you have a moment. And if you miss it, you have helped the oppressor. The message was clear: every believer bears the duty of tabyeen
PUREWILAYAH.COM - The fifth night of the Ashura Program hosted by Truth Promoters was broadcast live on YouTube on June 30, 2025, continuing its immersive, spiritually charged series of Muharram commemorations.
The program opened with a recitation from the Qur'an, followed by a poetic couplet, before turning to the evening’s central address by Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally.
The night also featured the emotional retelling of the maqtal (martyrdom narrative) of Awn and Muhammad, a stirring latmiya performance, and concluded with a collective recitation of ziyarah to Imam Husayn (AS).
Tabyeen: Not Just Words, but a Moral Compass
In his lecture, “Clarification Beyond Words”, Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally delivered a stirring exploration of tabyeen—the Islamic concept of clarification—as both a strategic necessity and a moral imperative. Drawing upon the teachings of Imam Husayn (AS) and Ayatollah Khamenei, he argued that tabyeen must not be reduced to rhetoric, but practiced as a bold and timely intervention.
“It’s not just about talking,” said Sheikh Shabbir. “It’s about what you’re saying, why you’re saying it, and who you’re saying it for.”
He denounced the normalization of oppressive powers, particularly the United States, emphasizing that even softened language can erode the clarity of Islamic principles:
“We must never be ashamed to say no to America.”
He further underscored the urgency of timely responses:
“You don’t have a week, you don’t have a month—you have a moment. And if you miss it, you have helped the oppressor.”
The message was clear: every believer bears the duty of tabyeen—not just in speech, but in action.
Maqtal of Awn and Muhammad: The Sons of Zainab
The maqtal of the night recounted the story of Awn and Muhammad, the young sons of Sayyeda Zainab (AS) and Abdullah bin Jaffar. Despite their youth, they displayed extraordinary valor at Karbala after gaining permission to fight.
Trained by their uncle Abbas (AS), they bravely entered the battlefield, where they were ultimately martyred. Sayyeda Zainab bore their loss with unwavering faith, considering their sacrifice a humble offering in the path of Islam.
Latmiya: Redemption through Hussain
The emotional climax of the evening came through a powerful latmiya titled "I Saw Hussain". The eulogy portrays the speaker’s spiritual awakening through a dream-like encounter with Imam Husayn (AS), whose suffering and dignity stir a transformation of the heart.
The performance echoed a central theme of the Ashura program: redemption lies not in words, but in aligning one’s entire being with truth and justice.
Ziyarah: The Final Devotion
The program closed with the communal recitation of Ziyarah Ashura, affirming the audience’s spiritual connection to Imam Husayn (AS). In the face of modern confusion and injustice, the ziyarah served not merely as a devotional act but as a reaffirmation of allegiance to the values of Karbala.
