Libya, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been assassinated in Libya by unidentified assailants.
Libyan sources reported that Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was killed following a shooting in the Zintan area. The reports state that Saif al-Islam was assassinated by four unknown individuals.
Initial information indicates that he was targeted after becoming caught in an ambush that followed an armed clash between an armed group and his security forces.

Moussa Ibrahim, the former spokesperson of Muammar Gaddafi’s government, has confirmed the news. The identity of the group or faction responsible for the assassination remains unknown.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the second son of Muammar Gaddafi, was a well-known political figure in Libya and was regarded by factions aligned with the former regime as a potential actor in the country’s future political landscape.
