Sheikh Qassem Warns of “Greater Israel” Project, Trump’s Gaza Plan “Full of Dangers”
Hezbollah Secretary-General says Trump’s proposal aligns with Zionist ambitions and serves to achieve politically what Israel failed to secure through war.
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM – In a powerful speech marking the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Sheikh Nabil Qaouq and Sayyid Suhail Al-Husseini, Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, delivered a sharp warning about the advancing “Greater Israel” project — a scheme he said is being pursued under full American sponsorship.
Speaking at a memorial ceremony in Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem cautioned that the so-called Trump Plan for Gaza is “filled with dangers” and “completely aligned with the objectives of the Zionist entity.” He emphasized that Israel would never be able to gain through politics what it failed to obtain through military aggression and genocide against the Palestinian people.
Remembering the Martyrs of the Resistance
Sheikh Qassem began his address by paying tribute to the fallen resistance leaders, describing Sheikh Nabil Qaouq as a scholar and commander who embodied the unity between religious leadership and jihad.
He noted that during the most recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon, twelve religious scholars were martyred — proof, he said, that the true scholar in Islam is inseparable from the struggle and sacrifice of the Ummah.
He reminded that the martyrs’ path — including that of Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sheikh Qaouq, and others — continues through unwavering resistance, and that their blood cements Lebanon’s strength in the face of the enemy.
“Greater Israel” and the Dangers of the Trump Plan
Turning to regional developments, Sheikh Qassem stated that what has unfolded in Gaza over the past two years is “an inseparable part of the Greater Israel project.” Every move by the Zionist entity, he said, whether military or diplomatic, forms a link in that expansionist chain.
He warned that any apparent Israeli retreat should not be mistaken for a true withdrawal, but rather a tactical step designed to manipulate conditions to its advantage.
Addressing the so-called Trump proposal for Gaza, Sheikh Qassem described it as “a plan full of dangers” that had been reshaped to fit Israel’s political aspirations after its military failures.
“The Trump Plan was first presented to certain Arab states under the guise of peace,” Sheikh Qassem said. “But amendments were made that perfectly matched Israel’s demands. It is now a political version of what Israel failed to achieve through war — the implementation of the Greater Israel project.”
He further noted that even some Arab officials were caught off guard by the contents of the plan and have requested clarifications, reflecting widespread regional concern.
Collective Duty to Confront the Zionist Project
Sheikh Qassem asserted that confronting Israel’s expansionism is not the responsibility of one nation but a collective duty for the entire region.
He pointed to the international participation in the Global Sumud Flotilla as a reflection of global solidarity with Gaza and a moral rejection of genocide. The presence of activists from diverse nations, he said, sends a clear message that the world’s free people stand against Zionist crimes.
“Israel will never achieve politically what it failed to achieve through war,” Sheikh Qassem declared. “Surrender does not exist in the Palestinian lexicon.”
He called on Arab and Islamic governments not to pressure the Palestinian resistance, urging them instead to take principled positions similar to that of Spain, which has expressed moral clarity on the Gaza crisis.
Lebanon’s Strength and Readiness
Sheikh Qassem reaffirmed that Lebanon remains steadfast despite Israel’s repeated acts of aggression and its killing of civilians, particularly children. He stressed that Hezbollah is “ready for jihad, sacrifice, and resistance,” and that Israel’s goal of breaking Lebanon’s strength and turning it into a weak state will fail.
He revealed that Israel and the United States had sought to portray Hezbollah as weakened or distracted by domestic affairs, but were surprised to find the movement firmly participating in governance and maintaining strong public support.
Sheikh Qassem praised the Lebanese Army for acting wisely to prevent internal strife, saying that both the army and the resistance share a clear stance against sedition.
“We are not equal to Israel militarily,” Sheikh Qassem said, “but we are superior in will, faith, and attachment to our homeland. We are prepared for sacrifice and jihad, and our people are great — a people that cannot be defeated.”
Reconstruction, Sovereignty, and Political Integrity
Sheikh Qassem called on the Lebanese government to fulfill its commitments to reconstruction, saying that rebuilding is essential for national progress and stability. Without it, he warned, the country’s development would stagnate.
He also emphasized the need for just political representation and rejected any attempt to impose external conditions or quotas under the pretext of guardianship or foreign pressure, describing such approaches as unlawful.
He urged all political forces to prioritize Lebanon’s sovereignty, reminding them that the Taif Accord explicitly calls for the elimination of Israeli occupation and the full restoration of national authority.
Sheikh Qassem reaffirmed Hezbollah’s enduring commitment to the path of resistance and national dignity.
“We are steadfast in our will to resist,” he said. “Our people are strong, our martyrs’ legacy guides us, and our faith ensures that no enemy — no matter how powerful — will ever erase the will of this nation.” (PW)
