Sheikh Qassem: US–Israeli Agenda Drives Instability in Lebanon and the Region
Hizbullah Leader Says Attempts to Disarm the Resistance Serve Foreign Interests, Not Lebanon
Lebanon | PUREWILAYAH.COM - Hezbollah Secretary-General Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Naim Qassem said the United States and the Israeli occupation are driving instability in Lebanon and the region.
He stressed that efforts to weaken or disarm the resistance serve foreign agendas rather than Lebanon’s national interests. He was speaking at a ceremony marking the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s Mission (Al-Mab’ath Al-Nabawi).
Faith, the Prophetic Mission, and the Meaning of Truth
Sheikh Qassem said the Prophetic Mission represents the greatest turning point in human history, when God entrusted His Messenger with a complete and comprehensive message for humanity.
“The noble Prophetic Mission (Mab’ath) means that we are standing before the greatest day in the history of humanity,” he said, stressing that Islam provides a clear path toward truth in all aspects of life.
“Islam is what guides human beings to the path of truth,” Sheikh Qassem stated. “Wherever the divine decision is, there lies the truth and the obligation to follow it.”
He emphasized that faith is not an abstract concept, but a living commitment that shapes morals, society, and resistance against injustice.
US Global Aggression and the War on Independent Nations
Turning to international affairs, Sheikh Qassem said Washington does not tolerate independent systems or free peoples governing themselves, but instead seeks domination while backing the “Israeli” occupation and its expansion.
“America does not want a system or a free people governing themselves,” he said. “Rather, it wants to dominate the people and their choices, and to support the Israeli occupation.”
He cited Venezuela as a clear example of US criminal conduct beyond West Asia, saying, “America committed the crime of the century in Venezuela by abducting the president of the republic from inside the country.”
Sheikh Qassem warned that without security, no political or economic stability can exist, stressing that US-led interference systematically destroys the foundations of sovereign states.
Lebanon, Resistance, and the Necessity of Arms
Addressing Lebanon’s internal situation, Sheikh Qassem rejected claims that the resistance is the source of instability, insisting that foreign aggression and interference are the real threats to national sovereignty.
He said the ceasefire agreement is a single and complete framework that Lebanon has respected, while “Israel” has failed to implement any of its obligations. He added that Resolution 1701, weapons exclusivity, and the national security strategy are Lebanese matters tied to internal political consensus, not external dictates.
“The demand to restrict weapons is an American-Israeli demand aimed at encircling the resistance,” Sheikh Qassem said. “It is not a Lebanese problem; it is Israel’s problem, because with resistance the land will not be seized.”
He warned that concessions only weaken Lebanon further, while resistance remains the country’s true shield. “The weapons in our hands are for defending ourselves, our resistance, and our people,” he said.
Sheikh Qassem posed a direct warning against disarmament: “If we do not have weapons, and if we do not defend ourselves, who can guarantee that ‘Israel’ will not violate every geographical point of Lebanon?”
In his closing remarks, he reaffirmed that the resistance will remain proud and unbowed, prepared for the harshest trials ahead. He stressed that Hizbullah and the resistance will endure with dignity, insisting that “Israel” and its allies will not achieve their objectives. (PW)
