Sheikh Qassem: Hezbollah’s Patience Has Limits, the Current Situation Cannot Persist
Hezbollah’s leader says Lebanon honored the ceasefire while Israel violated it, warning that patience has limits and resistance remains ready to defend sovereignty.
Lebanon | PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, reaffirmed that the movement remains steadfast and committed to continuing the path of its martyred leaders, stressing that resistance in Lebanon is a shared national responsibility.
Speaking on Monday during a commemoration of fallen Resistance leaders, Sheikh Qassem stated that Hezbollah’s struggle is ongoing and stable, emphasizing that resistance is not limited to one faction but involves the state, the army, and the people.
He described the resistance as national, pan-Arab, Islamic, and humanitarian, stressing that these dimensions are inseparable, particularly in confronting an enemy that seeks destruction, domination, and erasure.
Ceasefire Violations and Disarmament Pressure
Addressing the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on November 27, 2024, Sheikh Qassem said Lebanon has fully respected its obligations, while the Israeli occupation has continued systematic violations.
He pointed to ongoing attacks on infrastructure, civilians, and repeated violations of Lebanese airspace, including surveillance operations, as evidence that the occupation has ignored the ceasefire entirely.
At the same time, he warned against internal and external pressure aimed at disarming the Islamic Resistance, calling such efforts a grave mistake that serves the enemy’s agenda and undermines Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Hezbollah Doesn’t Seek War But Prepared
Sheikh Qassem stressed that Hezbollah does not seek war, but remains fully prepared to defend Lebanon against any aggression.
He underscored the distinction between initiating a war and defending the country, noting that the Resistance possesses the capabilities necessary to deter aggression and that the outcome of any future war is far from guaranteed for the enemy.
He also criticized policies of concession, arguing that repeated retreats only embolden Israeli ambitions and weaken Lebanon’s position.
Sovereignty, Unity, and Strategic Patience
Reaffirming Hezbollah’s commitment to national unity, Sheikh Qassem said the movement opposes all forms of internal sedition and supports a comprehensive national security strategy rooted in sovereignty and liberation.
He explained that Hezbollah’s current patience stems from a sense of responsibility toward the state and society, but warned clearly that this situation cannot continue indefinitely.
“The current reality cannot persist as it is,” he said, adding that regional developments are interconnected and that shifts elsewhere inevitably affect Lebanon.
Warning on Occupied Palestine and Regional Expansion
Turning to occupied Palestine, Sheikh Qassem described “Israel” as an expansionist entity seeking domination not only over Palestine but the entire region.
He warned against underestimating the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the gradual annexation of the West Bank, stating that these actions are managed and enabled by the United States.
His remarks underscored that resistance, vigilance, and sovereignty remain central to confronting occupation, aggression, and foreign tutelage in Lebanon and beyond. (PW)
