Sheikh Naim Qassem: Martyr Raisi’s Enduring Support Strengthened the Islamic Resistance
Hezbollah’s Secretary General Honours Late Iranian President Raisi’s Role in Empowering Regional Resistance Movements
Tehran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - At the international “Diplomacy of Resistance” conference held in Tehran on the anniversary of President Ebrahim Raisi’s martyrdom, Sheikh Naim Qassem, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, paid tribute to Raisi’s unwavering support for the Islamic resistance movement. Speaking via video conference, Sheikh Qassem described Raisi as a major figure whose dedication and character left a lasting impact on the cause of resistance in the region.
Sheikh Qassem emphasised that Raisi was not only a prominent supporter but also someone who consistently sought to understand the evolving conditions of resistance movements, regularly consulting with Hezbollah’s leadership about developments on the ground. He highlighted Raisi’s humility and closeness to the people, noting that despite holding significant positions—including head of Astan Quds Rezavi, head of Iran’s judiciary, and ultimately the presidency—Raisi’s commitment to the ideals of Islam and freedom never wavered.
“We are very proud to stand with Palestine, Iran, and all freedom fighters in the region as the axis of resistance,” Sheikh Qassem stated.
He credited the strength of the regional resistance to the steadfast backing of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with Raisi being one of its most prominent champions.
President Raisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and their delegation, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in East Azarbaijan province on May 19, 2024. Sheikh Qassem’s remarks underscored the profound loss felt by the resistance movement and reaffirmed Raisi’s enduring legacy as a pillar of support for those striving for justice and freedom in the region.
