Scholars of Palestine: Israel Enters New Phase of War Against Islamic Rituals and Holy Sites
The Scholars of Palestine warned Israel has entered a new phase of war against Islamic rituals and holy sites, calling it a systematic assault on the Islamic Ummah.
PALESTINE, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Scholars of Palestine Association warned that the Israeli occupation has moved from targeting people and the land to a new phase of war against the rituals of Islam and its holy sites.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Association stressed that the ongoing attacks on mosques, copies of the Holy Qur’an, the call to prayer, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Ibrahimi Mosque constitute a systematic assault on the identity of the Islamic Ummah, not on the Palestinian people alone.
Occupation Targets the Rituals of Islam
The Association said the most dangerous development revealed by the current situation is the occupation’s escalating targeting of the symbols of Islamic worship.
It said the proposed bill to restrict the raising of the call to prayer, together with the continuing assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the accelerated Judaization of the Ibrahimi Mosque, indicates a new phase aimed at the rituals of Islam themselves, not merely at the land and its people.
The Association noted that the occupation has carried out a series of violations, including the destruction of nearly 1,000 mosques in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, documented incidents of burning, tearing, and desecrating copies of the Holy Qur’an, public insults directed at the Prophet Muhammad inside Al-Aqsa Mosque during settlers’ marches, the burning of a number of mosques in the occupied West Bank, and the preliminary approval by the Israeli Knesset of a bill to restrict the call to prayer.
Calls for Practical Action, A Collective Responsibility of the Islamic Ummah
The Association called for broad practical action to confront these violations and urged the leaders of Islamic countries to assume their responsibilities in supporting Palestine, protecting its holy sites, ending the path of normalization, supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and rebuilding mosques.
It also appealed to ministries of religious endowments, Islamic scholars, preachers, media professionals, Islamic movements, and charitable institutions to document these crimes, keep the issue of Palestine’s holy sites present in religious platforms, the media, and educational programs, and mobilize the efforts of the Islamic Ummah to defend the rituals of Islam in Palestine.
The Association affirmed that protecting the rituals of Islam in Palestine is a collective responsibility of the Islamic Ummah.
It praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, who continue to establish the prayers, raise the call to prayer, and hold fast to the Holy Qur’an despite the war and destruction. (PW)
