Sayyed Houthi: Yemen’s Mawlid Commemoration a Testament to Faith, Resistance, and Loyalty
In a historic address, the Yemeni leader calls for a renewed bond with the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad, warning against complacency and urging steadfastness against Zionist aggression
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din Al-Houthi congratulated the Yemeni people and Muslims worldwide on the Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary, describing the occasion as unmatched in history and transformative in its impact.
Speaking on Thursday during a central Mawlid gathering, he hailed Yemen as the “land of faith” and its people as the “descendants of the Ansar,” noting that Yemen’s annual celebration—growing in size and fervor for centuries—has no parallel anywhere in the Muslim world. This, he said, is living proof of the Prophet’s words: “Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni.”
He welcomed Arab and Islamic communities who joined the celebrations, saying that marking the Prophet’s birth in Yemen reflects gratitude to God, joy at His mercy, and devotion to the Messenger of humanity.
Celebration as an Expression of Loyalty and Defiance
Al-Houthi stressed that through the Mawlid, Yemenis reaffirm their determination to follow the Prophet’s example, countering efforts to detach the Ummah from its Messenger.
The event, he added, serves as a season to strengthen faith, awareness, resolve, and perseverance, as well as an opportunity for charity and good deeds. Yemen, he said, draws from this occasion lessons of freedom and independence rooted in its faith identity, continuing the legacy of the Ansar who carried the banner of Islam when others abandoned it.
He praised the steadfastness of the Yemeni people as a continuation of their ancestors’ support for the Prophet—today expressed through defending the oppressed and confronting tyrants, unbelievers, and hypocrites.
Warning Against Complacency and Abandoning the Qur’an
The Yemeni leader cautioned that the greatest danger facing the Islamic Ummah is remaining in a state of complacency and straying from its principles, which leads to ruin.
He asserted that salvation lies only in taking responsibility through jihad and resisting the corruption and crimes of Zionist forces. Turning away from the Qur’an and neglecting the Prophet’s guidance, he warned, is the root cause of the Ummah’s decline.
Al-Houthi argued that every alternative path tried by the Muslim world apart from the Qur’an and the Prophet has failed. He urged: “Why not try returning to the guidance of the Qur’an and the Messenger?”
Islam as a Project of Victory and a Stand Against Zionism
Reaffirming that Islam is a religion of victory, not defeat, Al-Houthi said that all powers that have fought against Islam—especially the Jews, known for deceit and corruption—have ultimately failed despite vast resources.
He cited the Qur’an’s revelation about the corrupt role of the Jews and their inevitable punishment by God through His believing servants.
“It is the duty of all Muslims,” he declared, “to restore their connection with the Qur’an—through obedience and guidance—and with the Prophet Muhammad—through emulation and loyalty.”
He concluded by affirming that Yemenis, like their Ansar forefathers, will continue to carry the banner high, standing with the oppressed in Gaza and Palestine, and confronting tyrants and their allies. (PW)
