Sayyed Houthi: Any Israeli Presence in Somaliland Is a Legitimate Target
Sayyed says Israeli presence in Somaliland poses a direct threat to Yemen, the Red Sea, and regional security
Yemen | PUREWILAYAH.COM - Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi reaffirmed Yemen’s full and unwavering support for the Muslim Somali people, stressing that Yemen views developments in Somaliland as a matter of strategic and national importance.
Speaking on Thursday during his address marking the anniversary of the passing of the Martyr Leader for the year 1447 AH, Sayyed Abdulmalik said the issue directly threatens Yemen, the peoples of the region, the Red Sea, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
He stressed that this danger cannot be ignored under any circumstances, warning that Israeli expansion in the Horn of Africa represents a serious escalation against regional stability and maritime security.
Israeli Military Presence a Red Line for Yemen
Sayyed Abdulmalik emphasized that statements and condemnations are meaningless in confronting Israeli aggression, stating clearly that the Israeli enemy places no value whatsoever on verbal positions or political rhetoric.
“There must be practical positions,” he said, stressing that Yemen is continuing and intensifying its monitoring operations.
He declared Yemen’s full seriousness in targeting any Israeli presence in Somaliland, including military bases or any form of permanent Zionist deployment.
“Any fixed Zionist presence that becomes accessible to us, and that we are able to strike, we will not hesitate to target militarily,” he stated, underscoring Yemen’s readiness to take decisive action.
Israel Seeks Control of Strategic Sea Lanes
Sayyed Abdulmalik explained that Israel is persistently seeking to advance its objectives in Somalia due to its strategic geographical position overlooking the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
He warned that Somalia’s location is vital and highly sensitive, and that Israel aims to exploit it to threaten the entire region by controlling key maritime routes and waterways.
He also addressed the recent visit of Zionist Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to what is referred to as “Somaliland,” describing the trip as a covert infiltration rather than an official visit.
According to Sayyed Abdulmalik, the visit was deliberately concealed, with no prior announcement. He explained that the Israeli minister secretly traveled to Ethiopia and then proceeded to Somaliland aboard a Romanian aircraft in an attempt to avoid detection.
He questioned why a self-proclaimed foreign minister would resort to such secrecy, concluding that Sa’ar was fearful of Yemen’s position—not of Arab or Islamic stances. (PW)
